So Much More Than Weight Loss…#NSNation

I never imagined that losing weight on the Nutrisystem diet would change so much more than my appearance.

I knew that being on the Nutrisystem diet and exercising would help me to lose the extra weight I was carrying around but I didn’t expect the mental changes that have come. I feel much more confident now that my body is sliming down, But even more than that I feel in control of my body. I feel like no matter what craziness is happening in my life, I now have control over what I choose to put into my body and how I choose to take care of my body.

Each day when I exercise (I exercise 6 days a week), I feel better and I have a better day. It makes me feel strong, and my body feels really good. On my rest day each week I kinda feel lazy Silly I know, but I do.

I won’t lie, dieting can be challenging. It is a daily battle. I have to choose each day to stay strong as I am cooking dinner for Bug (and it smells great!) or when I see a commercial on TV for one of my favorite restaurants (and all I want to do is hop in the car and go eat there). I have to remember my goals and that the sacrifice is completely worth it.

I am in such a great place right now feeling strong and confident and it just keeps getting better. I am excited for summer to come and I will be able to be active with Bug. We can go hiking, and running, and I will actually be able to keep up with him.

Why is Mommy Awesome?

As moms we are very awesome, we strive each day to provide the best life for our children. We sacrifice for them and love them with everything we have. So I think that makes us moms pretty awesome. But what do our kids think makes us awesome?

Earlier today I had this conversation with 3 year old Bug:

Me: “ What makes mommy awesome?”

Bug: “Food”

Me: “What?”

Bug:”Your Food”

Me: “Oh, the food I cook for you?”

Bug: “Yeah”

I should have known. Bug is a food loving 3 year old. I am so happy to hear that the time I spend slaving in the kitchen is making me awesome in his eyes!

Playtime With the New ZhuZhu Puppies!

I saw Tangled in theaters (of course I am a huge Disney fan!) and I loved it. So I have been anticipating the blu-ray & DVD release ever since. We were so lucky to receive the blu-ray and dvd combo pack about a week and a half ago. We all sat down as a family and watched it again. I am happy to report I loved it just as much the second time. Actually I think I liked it more Bug is obsesses with this movie he would watch it daily if I let him, so we have seen it many times in the last week and a half. I love the music, it is fabulous! If you haven’t seen this movie yet you have to! You will fall in love with it. Rapunzel has quickly become one of my favorite Disney princesses because of this movie. I also love the side-kicks Pascal and Maximus, they have us laughing throughout the movie. This is a MUST HAVE family film to add to your collection!

When I first heard about the book Inconceivable by Carolyn and Sean Savage, I have to admit I hadn’t heard their story. Apparently I was hiding under a rock at the time it all happened, considering all the news stories and their numerous TV appearances, LOL. I didn’t quite know what to expect from the book. I love reading fiction but sometimes struggle with keeping my attention in non-fiction books. That was not the case at all with Inconceivable. I was hooked right at the beginning of the book and couldn’t put it down. I read it in 2 days. I cried for the majority of the book as you are following them along their emotional journey. Their story is so amazing. Their faith and generosity is such an inspiration. I highly recommend reading their story in this book!

Evenflo Jump and Learn Exersaucer Update

I’m back with another update on the Evenflo Jump & Learn Exersaucer!!

Now that my baby is on the go, he isn’t too happy to be stuck ANYWHERE for too long. I can still put him in the Exersaucer for a few minutes, but he is eager to get out and explore! However, that hasn’t stopped him from enjoying the fun toys that are on the Jump and Learn Exersaucer!

The Exersaucer offers a wide range of developmental activities for my son. I’ve already mentioned the dragonfly that my son loves to suck on. Now that he is teething, he chews on the textured wings. The little sunflower toy is one of his favorites! It has a mirror that he can see himself in, and 2 little Peek-a-boo toys to help develop searching for hidden objects. My son spends a lot of time ‘bopping’ those toys up and down Smile

Some of the toys have intense visual patterns, while others are subdued to help develop my baby’s attraction to visual patterns. And of course, now that he is starting to imitate sounds, he loves both the toys that make noise. He will even dance along with the music!

I really love that the toys can easily be removed for fun & learning anywhere!

DISC 1:
Big Time Audition
Kendall, James, Carlos and Logan are hockey-playing best friends from Minnesota, whose lives are turned upside down after being discovered by mega-record producer Gustavo Rocque. Next thing they know, Gustavo moves them to Los Angeles to make them into the next music sensation.
Big Time Crib
The guys are not thrilled with their boring apartment at the Palm Woods. They hatch a plan to improve it when Gustavo creates a fun “fake” living area for them on a soundstage for an upcoming video shoot. The guys enlist the help of all of their friends at Palm Woods to move all of the cool games and gadgets from the set to their apartment.

Big Time School of Rocque
The guys get a dose of reality when Gustavo tells them they have to go to school while they live in Los Angeles. While the boys want to go to the fun school in the Palm Woods, Gustavo has arranged to have their school located at the recording studio. In the end, the boys do whatever is necessary to take down the “School of Rocque” and go to the Palm Woods school.

Big Time Bad Boy
The record company CEO thinks adding a fifth band member will broaden Big Time Rush’s appeal. He sticks the guys with a self-proclaimed “bad boy,” who tries to inject dissension and tension within the group. Ultimately, the guys band together and get him booted out.

Big Time Love Song
The guys all chase the same girl, causing problems in the band for the first time. Gustavo sees their crush as motivation for a love ballad and struggles to quickly write a syrupy love song for the group to sing.

DISC 2:
Big Time Mansion
When Gustavo has to go away on business, he lets the guys watch over his mansion. Left with five simple “do not do” instructions, Kendall, James, Carlos and Logan soon find themselves breaking every rule, among other things.

Big Time Photo Shoot
The guys are taking their first band photo, but when Gustavo is forced to do community service, the guys must to do whatever it takes to derail the terrible ideas Griffin has planned for the shoot.

Big Time Break
Spending all of their time together has given the guys cabin fever and they decide to split up. Kendall tries to court Jo, James learns how to act, Logan sneaks into a woman’s school to attend a math lecture and Carlos and his dad solve a Palm Woods mystery.

Big Time Demos
It’s time for Griffin to decide the future of Big Time Rush. The guys think they’ll be able to stay in LA while a decision is made, but they learn they’ll have to wait for the news in Minnesota. Not wanting to leave they must convince Griffin to green light their CD.

Big Time Party
After learning that Gustavo is hosting a party at the studio that the boys are not invited to, they guys decide to host their own party at the Palm Woods. However, what was intended to be a small gathering of friends quickly becomes a much bigger deal.

Big Time Jobs
The guys have been having too much fun in Hollywood and after breaking stuff at the Palm Woods, Gustavo makes them get jobs to pay off the damages. Carlos becomes Gustavo’s assistant, James becomes a model and Kendall and Logan start a babysitting service.

Constructive Playthings Children’s Toys and Educational Products Review

My Daughter is such a busy busy little toddler and I am always looking for new ideas to keep her busy and try and keep up with the housework too. I fell in love with Constructive Playthings toys.

I decided to get the Little Helper Cleaning Set for Leah so she could “help” me clean around the house, keep her busy and teach her some mad cleaning skills! Are You Ready For Swim Suit Season?

So I took a vacation to California recently and the warm weather was so nice. I didn’t realize how much I was missing the warm weather until I was back in it. Now I am counting down the days until summer!

We love summer, Bug and I are swim-aholics. Everyday you will find us at our neighborhood pool. Literally, everyday. I have friends in my neighborhood who see us at the pool and ask “Do you guys live here?”. LOL, We love it! I love laying out in the sun and Bug is a fish. He is a swimming fool. In fact he started swimming at just 2 years old. No lessons, just real swimming, all by himself. That is pretty impressive to me

Well with how much we are at the pool it kinda sucks to not feel like you look your best. Okay it more than kinda sucks, it completely sucks!

So this year I am actually excited to go and buy my new swim suit (for the first time in years). I am not ready just yet, as I still have some weight to lose but I am getting closer and closer to my ideal weight and body shape everyday. It is all thanks to the Nutrisystem Diet and good old fashioned exercise. I can’t even tell you how much I love what the diet and exercise have done (and are still doing) for my body. I am so looking forward to a summer where I will be able to walk around at the pool with 100% confidence!! It is a nice change since I have been so self consious due to my weight for years. J World Sport Rolling Backpack Review and Giveaway (3 Winners!) [CLOSED]

We were planning a road trip vacation recently so I new I would be needing a durable rolling backpack to use on the trip. I came across J World Sports and new that their rolling backpacks were the perfect choice. Once the backpack arrived I knew I was right. It is a quality backpack and I know it will last us through many years. Right off I noticed that is was light-weight, this is really nice because I have had rolling backpacks before that are heavy and who wants to start out with a heavy bag? The handle is really easy to pull out and close (with the simple push of a button). Of course you can still carry it like a traditional backpack as well. It rolls so well, and I loved not having to carry my very full backpack (loaded with all the necessities for a road trip with a 3 year old!).

LaRue Across America Children’s Book Review and Prize Pack Giveaway (2 Winners)! [CLOSED]

I am a big fan of Mark Teague’s books and illustrations. He is the illustrator of the “How Dinosaurs…..” books and the author of the LaRue series. I think that the LaRue books are hilarious. I love having the books told from the point of view of the main character, Ike. Ike is a dog so you can imagine how funny this is. What is really great about these books is that they are not your normal storytelling books. The stories are told by letters that Ike sends to different characters. Most of the time it is to his owner, Mrs. LeRue. I was very excited to receive, LeRue Across America: Postcards From The Vacation, Ike’s newest adventure.

What I love about these books are the language of the story. I feel that sometimes children’s books make the language too simple. I love that Mark Teague uses ‘big words’ and more adult language in his text. It provides an opportunity for me to discuss new vocabulary with the kids in my class.

My favorite part of LeRue Across America was the humor in the story. Poor Ike has to get along with his neighbors who happen to be cats. Reading about the interactions between Ike and the cats were hilarious. Some of the humor went over my kindergarteners’ heads but I was laughing!

The one thing that my kids really liked were the illustrations. Mark Teague is such a fantastic illustrator. There are so many different things happening on each page and there is amazing detail. Just looking at the pictures in this book was fun.

If you have not read the LaRue books by Mark Teague, you are missing out! This newest book is a great addition to the series! You can buy it on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and in your local bookstore.

Since I never attended college, my plan has always been to go at some point. So as a stay at home mom an online college seems like the perfect way to attend college and still be home with my kids.
