My girls are best friends & worst enemies. Everything HAS to be fair. But as we all know, LIFE IS NOT FAIR—-and that means a lot of arguing & a lot of melt downs for us (not me….my girls). Playing games is a little risky because there is only ONE winner. That is not good and it’s very frustrating for everyone! But now we have the Mermaid Island Cooperative Board Game and finally life is fair (at least until the game is over).
What is a cooperative game? 
It’s a game where everyone plays together, no one is left out, and everyone has fun! Unlike a traditional game where there is one winner and one (or many) losers, in a cooperative game the players work as a team against a common obstacle, not against each other. Cooperative games emphasize play, not competition. Kids learn to work and play together in respectful and compassionate ways. They learn to share, make decisions together, and trust one another. Cooperative games encourage inclusion and build confidence. Most importantly, the kids play because it’s fun!
I love having a game that will help my girls play together nicely. The object of the Mermaid Island board game is to get the three mermaids to Mermaid Island before the sea witch gets there. The players don’t move only one single mermaid, they get to play any of the tokens which means there is no arguing over who gets the pink mermaid!!! This game is simple enough for my 4 year old, and my 6 year old thinks it is a lot of fun! I enjoy playing as well, because I don’t have to constantly console the ‘losing’ player!! It’s just a fun game for all of us where we work together & everyone is a winner!

I would get the Hoot Owl Hoot game. The game sounds so much fun with moving the little owl pieces and easy enough for my son to understand!
