I’ve Got My Eye on Halo Diamond Studs from Brilliance.com

I love diamonds. Probably my favorite thing about them is how much they sparkle. Especially in the sunlight. I really love the round cut for my diamonds, to me that cut just seems to sparkle the most.

Puss In Boots Film Review ~ Opens in Theaters Today

Long before he even met Shrek, the notorious fighter, lover and outlaw Puss in Boots becomes a hero when he sets off on an adventure with the tough and street smart Kitty Softpaws and the mastermind Humpty Dumpty to save his town. This is the true story of The Cat, The Myth, The Legend… The Boots.

I will be honest. I am not a fan of the Shrek movie franchise. I think they are overly crude and have way too many fart jokes. I have to say though, I am a big fan of the character Puss from those movies. I think he is pretty awesome. I was thrilled when I found out he was getting his own film.

I LOVED this movie! I was laughing hysterically throughout. I have had pet cats most of my life and there were so many cat jokes. The jokes were very clever and I do not remember a single fart joke (thank goodness)! It was fun to see Puss’s story before he met Shrek and the other characters.

In my opinion, the voice cast is what makes this movie. Antonio Banderas once again is great as Puss. He adds a spirit and charisma to the role. In my opinion, Puss could be one ugly cat and I would still enjoy the movie listening to Banderas voice. Salma Hayek also did great as Kitty Softpaws. I loved having a fun, strong female cat opposite Puss. Puss is a hard character to be compared to and Kitty is a great character to have opposite him.

So my advice, do NOT miss this movie. It is AWESOME!!

Anonymous Film Review~ Now In Theaters

“Set in the political snake-pit of Elizabethan England, Anonymous speculates on an issue that has for centuries intrigued academics and brilliant minds such as Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, and Sigmund Freud, namely: who actually created the body of work credited to William Shakespeare? Experts have debated, books have been written, and scholars have devoted their lives to protecting or debunking theories surrounding the authorship of the most renowned works in English literature. Anonymous poses one possible answer, focusing on a time when scandalous political intrigue, illicit romances in the Royal Court, and the schemes of greedy nobles lusting for the power of the throne were brought to light in the most unlikely of places: the London stage.”

I was very intriged by the concept of the movie Anonymous. What if Shakespeare really had not written his amazing plays and sonnets? I was excited to see this movie’s take on it.

There were several things that I liked about the film. I thought the art direction and costume designs were amazing. They really sucked you into the Elizabethan era. My favorite costumes were Queen Elizabeth’s dresses. They were very beautiful. A queen’s dresses have to be pretty though. During the movie, we see many different excerpts from Shakespeare’s plays. It was fun to see some of the costumes from those as well.

I loved the acting in this movie. Rhys Ifans (many people may know him as Xenophilius Lovegood from the Harry Potter films) as the Earl of Oxford was my favorite. This is the man that supposedly really wrote the amazing works of Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and the others we know as Shakespeare’s. I am used to seeing him as a crazy character. It was great to see him play a character with such depth and emotion. I also thought that it was fun that Vanessa Redgrave and Joely Richardson, who are really mother and daughter in real life, both played the part of Queen Elizabeth. This movie goes back and forth between different time periods. Ms. Redgrave and Ms. Richardson were both superb.

I liked that this movie had many different plot twists. Many different aspects of the story are very surprising. You think you have something figured out and then you are fooled.

I really enjoyed this movie and will be recommending it to others!

Anonymous gets bragging rights!

I love sending out Christmas cards. We get our family pictures taken each year, usually in the fall. Then I get the exciting job of choosing a family Christmas card for us to send out for that year.

Adding Sign Language to Early Child Education

In an ever-changing economy, it is important to maintain adaptability in order to make the most of the opportunities afforded to every individual. Being able to be communicate in many forms and varieties will enable individuals to maintain a higher standard of living in a time when opportunities may be limited. Those that are bilingual give themselves an exceptional advantage in communication. This is never more true than when learning how to communicate non-verbally to help the disabled, most commonly the deaf.

Those fluent in American Sign Language are becoming more rare, and opportunities for qualified interpreters are growing. As trends continue, ASL interpreters will be in short supply, and employment in such a field will become easier to secure.
Starting Sign Language Early
Research has shown that children from the ages of two to five are learning new skills quickly. This is the time that spoken language is instituted and when second languages should be introduced for the best results. This time of growth in communication and language is also an excellent time to introduce signing. Signing is more common than we often consider. Indigenous peoples like the American Indian nations often communicate with other tribes using sign language, as they do not have a shared common language. Researchers believe that Neanderthals relied on hand gestures when communicating with each other, as they may not have had the vocal ability to produce words. Sign language may even come as second nature for those who cannot speak to each other.

It may be even more instinctual than we first considered. A 2003 research article in the Boulder Daily Camera discusses the idea that babies as young as six months use their hands to converse with their caretakers or with other children. The article goes on to explain that by eight months, babies are able to remember signs, imitate gestures, and sign single words. With continued exposure to sign language, children at 24 months old can sign full sentences. It also helps to reduce the frustration that children may feel when they are unable to express themselves, giving them an outlet for their needs and desires before they can talk.

The author of the article also explains that in a study by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, younger children that learn sign language early in their lives will have a better grasp of their verbal skills later in life. Parents that used sign language to communicate with their autistic children found it easier to converse with their child, they were able to reduce the child’s frustration when communicating, and they saw marked improvement in other areas, including math, vocabulary, spelling and music.

By starting early in a child’s education, sign language allows children to communicate their thoughts before they are able to verbalize them. In addition, teaching your child will strengthen the bond between parent and child and will help to forge a skill that will only help them as they get older. Teaching your child sign language before they can walk will help to build the foundation for many things to come.

I used to watch CatDog when I was a kid and I remember really liking it a lot. When we got it to review it was fun to watch it again (very nostalgic) and fun to introduce this show I liked so much to my little Bug. He instantly become a fan of the show as well. I love seeing these cartoons I watched as a child realeased on DVD.

I was very impressed with the selection of toys available on Toygaroo. They have a wide variety from baby toys to toys that are great for kids 5 and up. I was able to easily fill my pouch with a bunch of fun toys and games for Bug.

I know what your thinking, used toys, kinda yucky. That’s what I thought at first also. But Toygaroo has a No Yuck Factor and cleans and sanitizes each toy to very high standards.

Our first shipment came about a week and a half ago and Bug is loving his new toys. Right now we have the Toy Story 3 Speedway, VTech Cars Laptop, Buzz Lightyear Learn and Go, and the Splaster. Bug loves each one and has really been enjoying them. Especially the Splatster, that is his favorite. I love that when I send back the shipment he can keep the Splatster longer. I am impressed with the condition of the toys as well as the cleanliness.

This movie is a huge hit with my 4 year old! He LOVES this movie. He has watched it daily since we got it on Blur-ray and DVD Combo pack to review a little over a week ago. In fact the whole family adores it. Normally we all get annoyed when a movie is played day after day, but we all love this movie so much we don’t mind. The wonderful and fun songs are stuck in our head.

Disney D-Lightful Living: Animate Your Daily Routine ~ Week 7: The Cold and Flu Fight

Stamp out the sniffles with the help of this week’s video challenge.

As every parent knows, cold and flu season is nothing to sneeze at. With winter weather nearly upon us, it’s important to keep kids equipped to battle those nasty bugs – and they can do so with the help of these great Disney-themed products!

Try these helpful tips to fight the cold and flu this season:

Help keep your kids comfortable in their bed or on the couch
Make sure your kids use tissue when they sneeze and blow their nose
Remind kids to wash their hands regularly

When Bug is sick I just hate it. I don’t like to see him suffer at all and I wish I could just trade places with him. Poor little guy. But I do like that there are things I can do to comfort him. Soup is always a great option to warm him up. I make sure I get a lot of vitamin C in him through Orange Juice and other foods with vitamin C. But most of all I love to just hold him and comfort him through his sickness. A great way to prevent getting sick, I have him wash his hands a lot. Especially when he comes home from Pre-school.
