Over Under Game Review and Giveaway [CLOSED]

I love playing games! However, we mostly only have kid games and they aren’t much fun for us adults. We get together with a group of friends about every month, and I was really excited to review the Over-Under Game from Bella Spencer Games so we can share it with our friends the next time we all hang out!

“Over Under is a game of gambling, risk, and reward. There are hundreds of “Over/Under” questions ranging from music to food to just about anything. The purpose of Over Under is simple: get from start to finish before anyone else. However, to get from start to finish, you will need to employ strategy based on your knowledge of the questions at hand. You can wager spaces and, if you answer the question correctly, move forward the wagered spaces. However, if you answer the question incorrectly, you will be docked the wagered spaces. Over Under is an outrageous game of wacky facts bound to bring laughter to whomever plays it.”

So how do you play? It really is super simple. Each team rolls the die on their turn. They move their colored piece according to the number they roll (it can be a forward or backward). If the die comes up on a color, the team must draw a card from the corresponding colored deck and pose the OVER/UNDER question to the group. The group will listen to the question and attempt to determine if the true answer is “over” the line or “under” the line. Some of the questions are interesting, some are weird, and some are downright hilarious! There are also a few ‘special spaces’ on the board that have the players doing different things including taking a sip of the drink next to them Winking smile . Haha. This is definitely a fun game for a big group!! Just a heads up though, the game says it is suitable for ages 12+ but some of the questions may not be appropriate for children that young. It is a game intended for adults so I would be careful when allowing younger teens to play it.

We are a family that loves playing games, so naturally 4 year old Bug loves playing games as well. He gets really excited when we get new games for him. I am always on the lookout for educational kids games. Not only do I want him to have fun playing, but I want him to learn from it. This is an adorable game. From the cute dryer to all the fun little items of clothing. As you choose a card, you then have to reach in the dryer and find the item that is on your card. Each card has a picture of an animal wearing a specific item. If you choose the correct item you get to keep your card. If you choose the wrong item then you have to put the card back on the bottom of the pile and your turn is over. Whoever has the most cards at the end wins, or you can set an amount for example: “First player to get 5 cards wins!”. Bug really enjoys this game and it is great for him to learn how to use his sense of touch to figure out which item is which.

This is an excellent game for teaching your child. They will learn colors as well as learning to find a specific alien on a board full of them. It is specific down to every detail, eyes, mouth, etc…The first player to find the alien and shouts “Space Face” gets to put an Alien on their ship. Once your ship is filled you win! This game really challenges my 4 year old and I love seeing how well he does and how much he has learned from playing.

I highly recommend these games. They are great fun for the whole family and your child will learn so much from them!

We love playing games as a family and do it quite often. So we are always excited to review games, but this one was extra special since my hubby ius a HUGE Scrabble fan. My nephews were super excited to learn that they would be getting Combat of Giants Dinosaurs 3D video game for Nintendo 3DS! They could hardly wait for it to arrive. Once it came, they immediately started playing of course.

“Over 150 million years ago in a world dominated by dinosaurs, natural disasters were changing earth and causing chaos. In the fight to become the top predator, only the most powerful dinosaurs could survive and had to battle the Arkosaurus, the most ferocious dinosaur species in the Jurassic world.”

Right off the boys loved the 3D. It is a single player game so they took turns playing. They love the idea of having to battle other dinosaurs until you finally battle Arkosaurus to become the top predator. They really like the fact that they could choose their Dino and customize it to make it their own. They enjoyed figuring out their Dinosaur and mastering the fighting against the other Dinosaurs. In between fights you can crush rocks and trees and get special rewards and they liked that they were able to walk around and find the dinosaurs to battle.

My nephews (ages 9 & 11) love this game and found it very easy to learn and play it. I highly recommend it as a gift to boys who love Dinosaurs and battles!

A Great Way For Kids to Safely Play on the Computer ~ Fooz Kids Review

Thank you to Fooz Kids for providing me with an All-In-One pack to review. The opinions I’ve expressed here are solely my own and represent my honest viewpoint.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I was asked to review Fooz Kids. I didn’t expect for Bug and I to love it as much as we do Happy surprise!

So I set up an account and Bug and I sat down to play. When I set up the account it asked me Bug’s info such as gender and age, so it could choose games and videos that would appeal to him.

Bug is almost 4 years old and he has just reached the point where I can let him play on the computer and he can actually use the mouse unassisted, etc… So we have been trying out Fooz Kids and both of us love it so far.

Bug loves that it has so many games and videos to choose from. All of which are his favorite shows and characters. The games are targeted for his age so he can easily play them by himself without needing assistance from me.

I love Fooz Kids because once you open the Fooz Kids Application on your computer your child cannot exit out without having you enter your password. Which means you will know what they are playing and watching while they are on the computer, even if you aren’t in the room with them.

Another great feature is that it has a parental dashboard. You can go in and personalize what games and videos show up for your child. This is also great if you want to challenge them a little more by adding older age games. You can also monitor their internet activity and block content as you wish.

Another fun thing is the Fooz Mail that your older kids can use to email friends and family safely.

Cool New Collectible for Boys ~ Our DaGeDar in Home Party

We were sent the Two Lane Battle Jump Raceway along with a launcher, flip action carrying case, and a whole bunch of DaGeDar Balls. The boys were super excited as we got each out of it’s package. They quickly decided which were their favorites (based on all the really cool designs). They built the track and started racing their DaGeDar’s against each other. The design of this raceway is fun because they can hold the ramp at different angles and get different results.

My 3 year old even loves them and it’s really cute cause he calls them “scary balls”. I think he calls them that cause some of them have scary faces It’s really funny to hear him talk about them. But just like the older boys he is smitten with DaGeDar.

They had a blast playing with them and their friends were excited to be able to take some DaGeDar’s home with them. They were all saying how they couldn’t wait to get more DaGeDar’s and a track of their own.

Another really fun thing about these DaGeDar is that each one has a number on the back that your child can enter into the DaGeDar website and register.

Based on how much the boys loved all the DaGeDar items we were sent, I can say that DaGeDar is definitely going to be the must have toys for boys this year!

DaGeDar is a huge hit with the boys at our house!

We were excited to learn about WhatsWhat because it is for tweens ages 7-13 and C is 11, the perfect age for this site. C has been bugging me to let him sign up for a Facebook account but I have always said no. He is too young and it isn’t safe enough. So when I heard about all the great safety features I told him we could get him a WhatsWhat account. When I told him WhatsWhat is a facebook for kids he said “Really that’s so cool” I knew he would love it

Signing up an account for your child is Free. They do charge your credit card one cent to make sure your child has parental permission to be using WhatsWhat. It was really quick, within a few minutes he was approved and ready to start enjoying WhatsWhat.

Then when C logged in for the first time it had him take a picture using our webcam. Then every time he logs in in the future it references that picture to make sure it is C logging in and not anyone else. I love that it is not an easy log in process and that it has to be a child logging in. I love knowing that he is in a safe online social environment.

Another great thing is C was able to send invites to his friends email addresses inviting them to WhatsWhat.me. Your child is only able to connect with children in their age group (their grade and the grade above and below). If they want to connect with someone out of their age group then they have to get parental approval.

C is having a blast playing games, connecting with friends, earning MePoints and creating and joining groups on WhatsWhat.me.

This new kids social network is a hit with both my child and me and I am so glad we have found a place for him to talk and share with his friends that is safe!

Clue: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Edition Game Review

A classic game meets a classic story! In Clue World of Harry Potter there are Dark Forces at work. A friend has vanished and its up to you to rescue them before its too late. Playing as Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Luna or Neville, you must try to discover who did it, what spell or item they used and where the student was attacked. Was it Fenrir Greyback with a Cursed Necklace in the Forbidden Forest? Use the Floo Network to travel faster through the wizarding world — but watch out for unlit fireplaces! When you’re sure of your facts, return to the Burrow to make your final accusations and win the game!

I love the game Clue. It is something that I remember playing a lot as a kid. When I found out that they had combined Clue and Harry Potter into one game, I was ecstatic! I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan. I was so excited to play this game.

The rules are pretty much the same as the original Clue with a few added twists. Instead of moving through secret passageways, you move using the Floo Network. The Floo Network is moving through fireplaces. They have also added spinning wheels to the board which you move by the roll of a special dice. The wheels cause the entrances of the different rooms to open and close. They have also thrown in the Dark Mark which causes you to lose Floo Powder and other things. You are not alone in the quest for finding your lost friend. There is a special help deck that you use to gain allies and spells to help you along the way.

My family and friends had a very fun time playing this game. We played it for hours! The only complaint that we had about this game was that the ‘suspect’ and ‘items’ are plain cardboard discs. In the original Clue, you had mini real objects to manipulate as you tried to solve the mystery. We felt that the discs were sort of cheap.

If you are a fan of Clue and Harry Potter, this game is one that you must buy!

HABA Games Review ~ Animal Upon Animal Balancing Bridge, and Where is Leo?

I really love HABA toys and games. They are classic, timeless and quality made to last. I was thrilled to get to review two of their games:

HABA – Animal Upon Animal Balancing Bridge

“The German game “Tier auf Tier: Das Große Abenteuer – Animal Upon Animal: The Big Adventure‟ tells a story of a crocodile leading the way across a precarious bridge surrounded by water, desert, jungle, and a volcano. When the other animals see the crocodile’s initial success, they pile on after him, resulting in a far more precarious situation. Players of the game are responsible for piling the animals on the (not-so-unstable cardboard) bridge, trying to meet goals on the game’s cards while avoiding knocking the pile-up of wooden animals into the surrounding habitats. Players choose one animal per turn based on a roll of the die and add it to the tower; a tower topple results in the addition of a goal card to that player’s hand, and the first to accomplish all his or her goals wins the game.”

“The wooden animals of the game are colorful and appealing (though painted on only one side; as the game is otherwise double-sided, this made them look slightly odd). They are well-balanced, but slightly slippery, so a steady hand can get them in place, but too many animals piled together leads to an inevitable but hilarious crash. All of our children enjoyed playing, and it was enough fun that no one was left feeling disappointed in the end. The game is even fun played alone.”

We played this game when my nephews were over to visit. Everyone who played enjoyed the game. Players where: Bug age 3, my nephews ages 9 and 11, and myself. The recommended age is 5 and up. Since Bug is younger we had to be extra careful that he didn’t knock over the animals we had stacked. We have played many times since then and the fun continues. This is a really fun family game and I recommend it!

HABA – Where is Leo?

“In this charming game, players have to hunt for and describe where Leo the Lion may be hiding. Cards show the “real location‟ in the lower left corner, and the “last place I saw Leo‟ is in the thought or speech bubble above each animal’s head. Players race to follow the route and find Leo’s “real‟ location. For example, the frog last saw Leo asleep in his bed. Players scan the circle of card tiles to find the bed in the lower left corner of the tile. Ah ha! The bed is in the Bear’s room. But Leo is not there. The bear last saw Leo at the lighthouse. And so it goes. As in any search, the hunt ends in the last place you look.”

Bug really enjoys this game. The recommended age is 5 and up, so he requires a little more help than an older child. But we still have a great time playing it. It is great to see him learning a lot as he plays, it requires him to use many reasoning skills, some of which he has just recently learned from this game. This is a great educational children’s game that I also recommend!

Brag Worthy Summer ~ Chuck E.Cheese’s Review and Family Guest Passes Giveaway (3 Winners!)

Where a Kid can be a Kid!

When I think of Chuck E Cheese’s, I think of a place where the kids LOVE to go and play. I mean every time we pass our local Chuck E. Cheese’s Bug see’s the sign and says I want to go to Chuck E. Cheese’s. He is only 3 and can’t read yet, but he knows it is Chuck E. Cheese’s!

We were so lucky to be sent a Guest pass to visit our local Chuck E. Cheese’s. We invited my nephews (ages 11 & 9) to go along with us for the fun. The guest pass gave us a large pizza, 4 drinks and 30 tokens. My husband also ordered some wings and I got the salad bar. The salad bar was very good with a large variety of fresh items. My husband enjoyed his wings, and the whole family gobbled up the hot and fresh pizza.

Before we left the house I signed up for the Chuck E. Cheese’s Email Club and I was immediately emailed coupons to use on our visit. One of the coupons was buy 60 tokens get 35 free. And it was just $15. So the kids had over 100 tokens to play with. They were so entertained and I loved the variety of games they have. The older kids were able to play video games, air hockey, ski ball and more. There were also games that were great for 3 year old bug, like a spider stomp, and animal feeding game. They even had little rides for him The best part is all rides and games are just one token!

Once they were done playing games they all cashed in their tickets for some fun toys!

Another great thing is the playground. It’s free! And there is always music and entertainment on the tv’s and stage. So even when your out of tokens the kids can still be entertained. Of course a visit to Chuck E. Cheese’s wouldn’t be complete without meeting Chuck E. Cheese himself! The kids were so excited when he came out to meet them.

Chuck E. Cheese’s also has great kids Birthday Parties. I have attended a few in my day and they are great. I’m sure we will be having one there for Bug soon since he loves being there so much.

Brag Worthy Summer ~ Learning Resources Pretend & Play Ice Cream Shop Review and Giveaway [CLOSED]

My daughter absolutely loves to use her imagination! She is so fun to watch, especially when she is playing with her kitchen and cooking up food. I couldn’t wait to have her start playing with the Pretend & Play Ice Cream Shop from Learning Resources. This cute little set includes:

Brag Worthy Summer ~ Magic Cabin Review and $50 GC Giveaway [CLOSED]

My daughter is not one of those kids who is content to just stay inside and play by herself. She needs constant attention and I am always looking for new ways that I can entertain her, especially during the winter months and where we live those can drag on forever! Magic Cabin has some really fun and interesting ways to entertain kids. I really love their selection of games and puzzles, which we don’t have a lot of.

I decided to pick out the Flippity Flop Domino game, which I know Leah will love. (I’m saving it for her birthday that comes up in a month) We went to my mother in laws back in March and Leah fell in love with her domino set and would sit down and play for like 45 mins or so! “Kids can clown around with this three-ring-themed take on a classic. This is perfect for outside play and keeps the kids active and on the go. I also really like the hopscotch set which I used to play growing up and loved.

If your looking for some fun games to play inside when it’s raining, cold or too sunny then I really like the Color Me Puzzle Set.

The Grow with Me Art Easel is also a great way for kids to express themselves and their talents!

One of the things that my daughter REALLY wants for Christmas or her birthday is a dollhouse. Every time she sees Daddy is gone she says “Daddy go to work and get money for dollhouse?” Or she says “I want Santa bring me Dollhouse for Christmas.” Well now I know a great website for dollhouses. The players don’t move only one single mermaid, they get to play any of the tokens which means there is no arguing over who gets the pink mermaid!!! This game is simple enough for my 4 year old, and my 6 year old thinks it is a lot of fun! I enjoy playing as well, because I don’t have to constantly console the ‘losing’ player!! It’s just a fun game for all of us where we work together & everyone is a winner!

National Geographic Animal Jam is a virtual playground for kids. They get to choose an animal & play at the same time as other children. My daughter chose a pink seal and got to name it as well! I was able to review Monster Tale for Nintendo DS, with the help of my 11 year old nephew. He of course was thrilled, a new game for his DS! Since we received the game he has really enjoyed playing it. It is a really neat mix of an action game on the top screen and a pet raising game on the touch screen. He loves that it has both elements for game play. Instead of being a pet raising game or an action game, they are combined into a really fun game. As your raising your pet you can call him up to help you in the action game on the top screen. So far we have enjoyed hours of game play fun. We highly recommend this game!! (Monster Tale is rated E for Everyone)

Constructive Playthings Children’s Toys and Educational Products Review

My Daughter is such a busy busy little toddler and I am always looking for new ideas to keep her busy and try and keep up with the housework too. I fell in love with Constructive Playthings toys.

I decided to get the Little Helper Cleaning Set for Leah so she could “help” me clean around the house, keep her busy and teach her some mad cleaning skills! I love that this little set was so easy to put together and it came with lots of fun things! It came with a bucket, broom, mop, vacuum, and everything you see above.

Constructive Playthings has something for everyone in the family and it’s a great site for everyone. I love that they have educational and interactive toys for kids of all ages. Another of my favorites I found was the Power Garden tools! What little boy or girl wouldn’t love to go outside and help Mom or Dad out in the Garden! It helps keep the kids busy and they really feel like they are helping.

My daughter also really likes to do art projects and they have some perfect ones on their site! From finger painting, to tie die to an art easel, every kid in your household will be excited to jump in on the art-time fun!

They also have some really fun games that my family would love to play! There are a lot of fun

Mega Bloks Domino Build Game Review

We enjoy playing games at our house and like to sit down as a family and have at least one game night each week. So we love when we find new games to add to our game night line up. The Mega Bloks Domino Build Game is great for little ones. It is designed for ages 3-6, and 3 year old Bug caught on pretty quickly on how to play. I was impressed at how well he does matching up colors shapes and animals. His favorite thing about the game is the pictures of the animals. I love that it teaches him, matching skills, as well as recognition of shapes and colors. It is also a really good game for teaching patience (something 3 year olds can benefit from learning ) This is a fun family game, I recommend you add it to your collection!
