Journey 2: The Mysterious Island Film Review~ Now in Theaters!

In this follow-up to the 2008 worldwide hit Journey to the Center of the Earth, the new 3D family adventure Journey 2: The Mysterious Island begins when young Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson, reprising his role from the first film) receives a coded distress signal from a mysterious island where no island should exist. It’s a place of strange life forms, mountains of gold, deadly volcanoes, and more than one astonishing secret. Unable to stop him from going, Sean’s new stepfather, Hank (Dwayne Johnson), joins the quest. Together with a helicopter pilot (Luis Guzman) and his beautiful, strong-willed daughter (Vanessa Hudgens), they set out to find the island, rescue its lone inhabitant and escape before seismic shockwaves force the island under the sea and bury its treasures forever.

If your family loves fun, adventure movies this is a movie for you to see! I really enjoyed Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. It is a great movie for the whole family.

There were many things that I liked about this movie. I really liked the cast a lot. I am a big fan of Michael Caine and Dwayne Johnson (to me, he will always be ‘The Rock’). All the actors in the movie really appeared to be having so much fun. I would like to add that as many times as I saw the trailer, the ‘pec dance of love’ still made me laugh!

I really liked how they brought different mythologies into the film. They talk about Atlantis and Captain Nemo as they are on the island. I am a book geek and love this little tie-ins.

I was pretty impressed with the 3D in this movie. I am not a huge fan of 3D film but this one was actual fun. They used the 3D effects in a meaningful way. It was not just ‘throw in’ to make it more marketable.

If you have not seen the first movie, do not worry. There is not much of a connection to the first film. You will not be lost or confused.

For a fun family movie night out, go to Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. It is a fabulous choice!

We love watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in our home. So we were thrilled about the release of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: I Heart Minnie on DVD and Digital Copy. When I was a little girl I loved playing with my Barbie dolls. I had a ton of them and a lot of clothes and accessories. Brag Worthy Christmas ~ Mark-My-Time Digital Bookmarks & Booklights Review and Giveaway (6 winners) [CLOSED]

Both my girls love books! They love to take a pile of books to bed every night and they will spend a good hour or two reading (or looking at the pictures in the case of my 4 year old). Usually I have to go upstairs and tell them that it’s time to put the books away and actually SLEEP. Now that we have the Mark-My-Time Digital Bookmark & Booklight, I don’t have to worry so much. Now that Q is in first grade, we have started getting more serious about reading. I set it for 10-15 minutes and it makes it a little more fun for her to read because she has the Mark-My-Time Digital Bookmark keeping track of her time (instead of mom). It’s so helpful! It’s also ideal for timing music practice sessions, timed math fact activities, meetings, homework study sessions, cooking and interval training when exercising. If you have kids in school then you know that they generally have an assigned amount of reading time they need to complete each week. I was excited when the Jumbo Soft Wild Animal Set showed up on my door step. I was super surprised too. I guess I didn’t read the description very well because these animals were quite large! But that is ok because my son will love them even more! They are soft too so my sons little hands will be able to pick them up easily. I am really happy with this animal playset.

I always find it refreshing to shop at stores that don’t carry the same old products that everyone else does. Brag Worthy Christmas ~ Moxie Girlz Horse Riding Club Horse Review and Giveaway [CLOSED]

Both of my girls LOVE anything that involves horses! They are always begging for me to buy them every horse toy that they see in the store and unfortunately, I just can’t. A lot of times I just don’t want to spend so much money on a little toy that doesn’t even do anything….but the Moxie Girlz Horse Riding Club Horse is not that toy! This horse actually walks on it’s own!

We received Cricket, the palomino horse and she is darling. She stands about a foot tall so she is pretty good size and her mane is long & silky…perfect for hours of brushing and braiding if your girls are like mine Winking smile . Cricket walks with the push of a button and I am pretty impressed. Her walk is a bit choppy, and she sometimes falls over, but I still can’t think of another horse that my girls would like better. Cricket walks and this makes her the coolest horse ever! If you want a darker color of horse, you can get Bingo. She is brown in color and her hair is a bit darker than her body. They are both really cute and would be perfect for you horse-loving child for Christmas!

Cricket and Bingo each have a saddle that is meant to hold their Moxie Doll riders, but I think you could use several different dolls as long as they are the correct size. Of course, the Moxie Girlz are dressed in the perfect riding outfits so they are ready for action!

I loved the One Size Elite Cloth Diaper from FuzziBunz the minute took it out of the package. First of all, the inserts are super soft, but not too thick. That is a big deal to me, because I really hate cloth diapers that are super bulky! Second, the insert is really easy to put in. You simply slip it into a pocket in the diaper…and it stays put. Third, I can loosen or tighten the elastic around the legs to get the perfect fit for my son as he grows (and they send an extra elastic to replace the original one after it gets worn out). The snaps make the diaper quick to put on and take off, and they are strong enough to stay fastened! They come in a lot of different colors that I really love too. I kind of want one in every color….although I don’t think my son would appreciate wearing pink & purple diapers Winking smile .

I was also sent a Trickle Free Trainer and I love it. It doesn’t have an insert, but it does have a a soft minky fabric inside so that it will catch any accidents. The dual side snaps make changing the pant quick and easy. I will be potty-training my son in about 6 months so I will be really glad to have this transition trainer. I am pretty sure I will need a few more though!

4 year old Bug LOVES Jake and the Never Land Pirates. It is his favorite show on TV right now. There are not a lot of “kid TV shows” that I enjoy watching, but I actually don’t mind sitting down with Bug and watching it. Or listening to it as I cook dinner. The songs are really fun and get stuck in my head. I love the lessons it teaches Bug and he learns a lot from watching it. My favorite thing is how he now says things he picked up from the show like: “Ahoy Mateys” & “I got some Gold Doubloons”. It is a cute show and I love that Bug enjoys it so much. jake1

We were so lucky to be able to view the upcoming holiday episode early! The episode “It’s A Winter Never Land!/Hook On Ice," is scheduled to premiere on Friday, Dec. 2 from 8:30-9 a.m. EST/PST.

It is a great episode so make sure you tune in with your kids or set your DVR to tape it.

I am so excited to announce that Disney Junior will be launching it’s own 24 hour channel in 2012!!! This is really exciting because the main time that Bug watches TV is in the afternoon and I had always wished I could have Disney Junior to put on for him. Wish Granted!

I love the new My Little Pony: Twilight Sparkle, Teacher for a Day App. It is so adorable! The graphics are so bright and fun. It is really great for engaging your child and keeping them engaged. I love that as the story is read each word lights up. It is a great kids app for learning to read.

Since I only have boys at my house, I had to enlist the help of my little sister to review this app. She LOVES it! Her favorite part is that she can customize her own story and even add in her own voice to the story. She really thinks that part is fun. She really liked the story and thought the games were fun. Even my little boy Bug thinks its a fun app. He likes to have the story read to him.

I find it refreshing to find educational apps for my kids. When they can learn as they play and have fun on my phone, I really like that. This is a really cute app with a cute story and I highly recommend it to parents to have on their (or their childs) iPhone, iPod touch and/or iPad.

I absolutely love hair accessories, especially headbands. I love the way that you can change any outfit from day to night with a stylish headband or cute headwrap. I really love to accessorize and this is one of the best ways that I know how.
