While I was growing up, we had a tradition where we received a new Christmas Book each year. We kept each book we had received next to the tree. Throughout December we would read our Christmas books and I have very fond memories of this. So I have started the tradition in my little family and we have been receiving new books each year. When I saw the book Little Star, I new it was the perfect book to add this year. Once I received it, bug and I sat on the couch and read it together. I have to say this very sweet story made me get teary eyed. Even 3 year old bug was able to understand it, and has asked me to read it to him several times since. It has such a wonderful message and I recommend it this Christmas! I am so glad to have this book in our Christmas Tradition Collection!

From the minute the commercials for this Tonka Chuck and Friends Power Playard System Chuck’s Stunt Park came on TV we heard “I want a Scun Pawk”. Yes I heard this for days and days on end. I have to admit in the commercial it looked like a super cool toy, so I couldn’t blame him We decided to give this to bug as a reward for potty training. He got a sticker every time he went in the “Big Boy Potty”. Once he filled his chart he would get his “Scun Pawk”.

Well it was a long week (hearing about this toy over and over) but he did it! He earned all his stickers, so we gave him the stunt park. This playset doesn’t look very big in the pictures but it is actually quite large. I was surprised when I saw how big the box was. Once bug saw the box with his stunt park inside his eyes lit up. I love that look of sheer joy and excitement. We opened it and put it together. It only took a few screws and was pretty simple. Then it was play time! Watching chuck doing the stunts “down the mountain” and “over the bridge” is fun. The first time he did his flips down the “mountain” bug said “woe!”, he was very impressed and excited.

You simply push Chucks Tonka plate (on the front) and he turns on, he turns off the same way. It is nice that it is very easy for bug to turn on and off on his own. A great feature is that the track can be changed to whatever your little one can think of. Also, Chuck can drive both on and off the track (he even works on carpet). One down side is since the track doesn’t connect your younger child might get a little frustrated if chuck misses and doesn’t make it onto the track (they have to be lined up just right). But I chose to take bug’s frustration at this and turn it into a lesson on problem solving. Now he knows to adjust the track before Chuck gets there, or simply help Chuck onto the track. Bug has spent many hours playing with Chucks Stunt Park and it is one of his favorite toys.

I recommend Chucks Stunt Park as a MUST HAVE TOY for Christmas this year!

{Brag Worthy Christmas} Wilson Phillips Christmas in Harmony CD Review

I know I might be letting everyone know about how old I am, but I LOVE Wilson Phillips! I remember listening to them in elementary and Jr. High and practically know all of their songs. So I was really excited to find out that they came out with their first ever Christmas Album called Wilson Phillips Christmas in Harmony.

This new album has some classic Christmas songs and some of their very own.

As you can see all of the women have changed but their music hasn’t. I love the classic sound of all of the women together and they still sound terrific! Wilson Phillips is definitely back and they come spreading Christmas Cheer to all!

One of my favorite songs from the album is Santa Clause is Coming to Town and one of their very own called “I wish it Could Be Christmas”

My little 3 year old Bug loves music. So it won’t come as a shock to you that my expensive MP3 player is being used by my 3 year old regularly. We couldn’t wait to play Disney’s Cars Toons: Mater’s Tall Tales on Nintendo Wii. We enjoy the short films about Mater’s Tall Tales. My favorite is when Mater is a Doctor, bugs favorite is when Mater is a Fire truck. It is so fun to see all of these short stories throughout this game: Mater the Greater, Rescue Squad Mater, Unidentified Flying Mater, El Materdor, Tokyo Mater, and Monster Truck Mater. You follow along with each short story, playing mini games based on the part of the story you are in. Another fun thing about this game is that you get to create your own car to use in the mini games. You earn coins and you can buy things to add to your car, new paint, wheels, hats, etc… It is the perfect family game as you can have up to four players playing at once. We had my nephews over for a video game night and we had a blast playing this game for hours, and the time just flew by. This is a must have Christmas gift for your family this year!

{Brag Worthy Christmas} Winter Songs: A Windham Hill Christmas CD Review

One of my favorite things about the Christmas season is the holiday music. I am a huge fan of Christmas music! I love all types but I love instrumental music the best. I was very excited to listen to the Winter Songs: A Windham Hill Christmas CD because it all instrumental.

There are several things that I liked about this Christmas CD. It is very soothing and calm. It is a great CD to put in after a long day and just relax. There are also many different instruments used. The first few numbers featured a lot of guitar. Later on the CD, there was a lot of piano music. These were my favorite because I am a piano player. One of the last songs on the CD, The Dove’s Return, is a song done with a harp. It is beautiful to listen to. My other favorite song was December Morning, which is performed by Jim Brickman on the piano.

This CD is perfect for the Holiday season. It is wonderful soothing Christmas music, has a variety of different songs and styles, and it is a great CD for the whole family to listen to.

The album is in stores now, and features such popular Windham Hill artists as Liz Story, Alex De Grassi, Philip Aaberg, and Jim Brickman.

Adorable Holiday Cards at Shutterfly

I always look forward to picking out our family Christmas Cards. I always choose to go with the photo cards so everyone can see our cute little family and see how much bug has grown. Looking through all of adorable choices Shutterfly has for photo cards I chose my favorite (the one above). I love photo cards photo cards that have multiple pictures. That way I can have a bunch of different pics of our family and bug on one card. (Not to mention I don’t have to stress about which one pic to choose, LOL!) My other favorite choices are shown below. I am always looking for fun holiday books and was very excited to read Vampire Boy’s Good Night. I really like that this story is told from the point of view of a vampire child and his witch friend. It was fun to read a book told from the perspective of a ‘monster child.’ When I read this book to my students, they thought it was silly that the little vampire boy (Bela) and his little Witch friend (Morgan) did not think children were real! My students had nothing but good things to say about this book when we were done reading it!

My favorite part of this book were the illustrations done by Lisa Brown. Her pictures were very detailed. My class’s favorite was the picture of a little boy dressed up like a mummy. The picture is detailed enough that you could tell that they used toilet paper for his costume. As you are looking at the pictures, you can see what a wonderful imagination Ms. Brown has!

With the book, I also received a fun trick-or-treat bag (great place to put my candy for treat-or-treaters), a little flashlight (so I don’t get lost), vampire teeth (excited to wear these at school), and a fun door knob hanger.

Max & Ruby: Everybunny Loves Winter DVD Review

Come and Join Max & Ruby in all of their Winter Adventures, in their newest movie “Max & Ruby: Everybunny Loves Winter!” which is available online and in stores starting September 21st. I was super excited to get this movie to review. I have watched it a couple of times on Nick Jr. with Leah and she seemed to enjoy it! I love how helpful Ruby is with Max and they seem to always have fun together!

I am not a big fan of Winter, even though I live in Utah where Winter starts early and ends late. I have tried to do outdoor winter activities but for some reason never got into them. I do love the hot chocolate, snuggling and soup part of winter though! However Leah loves to go outside, she loves everything about being outside and I’m sure will love Winter this year. That’s why this video is perfect for her!

This video introduces 4 new episodes that have never been released on DVD. In these Winter themed episodes Max & Ruby play and have fun in the snow, make gingerbread houses, and even play duck, duck, goose!

Nickelodeon’s show Max&Ruby centers around 3yr old brother Max and his sister Ruby who is 7. They get into conflicts but they always seem to work them out by being kind and respectful of one another.

My favorite episode on the video was Ruby’s Snowbunny-Ruby’s Snowflake-Duck Duck Goose. In these episodes:

Ruby’s Snowbunny
Max wants to zoom down the hill on his “Sled!” but Ruby is intent on making a huge snowbunny and she needs Max’s help. When it turns out they’ve built the snowbunny at the bottom of Rocket Run, the only way to get the snowbunny safely out of the way is by using Max’s “Sled!”

Ruby’s Snowflake
Grandma and Ruby have made three snowflake-shaped cookies and now Ruby wants to surprise her by decorating them all exactly the same. Max wants to sample his “Snowflake!” right away. When Max tries to get a cookie, he causes Ruby to spill sprinkles and icing so all of the cookies are decorated differently. Ruby’s upset, but when Grandma comes, she points out that her cookies are perfect – they’re all different, just like each and every “Snowflake!”

Duck Duck Goose
Max wants to play “Duck Duck Goose!” with the girls, but they have to find 5 winter birds for their Bunny Scout badge. When the girls have only found 3 birds, they discover that Max has lured the last 2 kinds of birds – “Duck Duck Goose.”

Ruby’s Gingerbread House
Ruby and Louise want to make a perfect gingerbread house for Grandma for Christmas. Max is intrigued of course by all of the “Candy!” It’s going fine except that the girls can’t get the walls to stick, and finally the thing that’ll make them stick is the addition of Max’s favorite “Candy!”

Max’s Christmas Pass
Christmas is over and it’s time to take the decorations down. Ruby is sad but realistic. Max doesn’t want the feeling to end, so he confiscates the Christmas ornaments and creates a makeshift Christmas tree so it can still be “Christmas!”

Max’s New Year
It’s New Year’s Eve and Grandma has invited Max & Ruby to stay with her and watch the new year come in. Ruby is so concerned with staying awake that she contrives all kinds of games for them to play, and in the end both she and Grandma are fast asleep by the time the clock strikes midnight, leaving Max alone to wake them up with “Happy New Year!"

Mr. & Mrs. Huffington ask Ruby to keep Baby Huffington happy while they set up their picnic in the park. Max wants to be “Super Bunny!” Ruby thinks Baby H might want to nap so she tells Max he’ll have to take off his cape and play something else. But when Baby H gets fussy, the thing he really wants is that cape and “Super Bunny!”

Max’s Big Kick
The girls are trying to perfect their synchronized swimming routine. Max wants to play with all of his toys that “Float!” Of course his toys always get in their way, but Max ends up providing the girls with the big finish they were looking for, with the help of his “Float!”

Max Says Goodbye
Ruby tells Max they’re going to spend the whole entire day playing at Louise’s house, but Max can only take a few toys. So he decides to say “Goodbye” to all of the toys he won’t see for the whole day. When Ruby finally gets Max out of the door, they run into Grandma, who wants to play pirates with them. Ruby explains that they’re going to Louise’s, but when she tries to lead Max away, he takes Grandma’s hand and has one word for Ruby: “Goodbye!”

Max’s Balloon Buddies / Ruby’s Penny Carnival / Ruby’s Big Win
Max’s Balloon Buddies
Ruby can’t wait to see all of the gorgeous flowers at the Flower Festival, but first Max sees Mr. Huffington making balloon animals, and he wants a "Balloon!" A series of accidents causes Max’s balloons to burst, so they have to keep returning to Mr. Huffington. By the time they finally get to the flowers, the festival is closing, so Ruby thinks she won’t see any gorgeous flowers, until Max gets Mr. H to make a beautiful flower out of a "Balloon!"

Ruby’s Penny Carnival
Ruby, Louise and Valerie are setting up a penny carnival in the backyard to earn money for a Bunny Scout field trip. Max keeps getting in the way with his monster mask, toys, bats and spiders and other things that are “Scary!” Ruby asks Max to get his icky toys out of the way, but when the carnival gets going, the biggest line-up is for the monster house that Max created, because everybunny loves things that are “Scary!”

Ruby’s Big Win
Max and Ruby are at the Fun Fair, and Ruby wants to win the basketball toss, because the prize is a goldfish. Max tries other games and he always manages to “Win!” different prizes. When Ruby finally wins the goldfish, Max has won everything she needs to give it a nice home.

I love that the characters have conflict buy they always work together to figure things out! Max& Ruby:Everybunny Loves Winter is the perfect video to get ready for the Holiday Spirit and gear you up for playing in the snow!

I have been trying to think of what Leah could be for Halloween. It took me forever to pick out the perfect costume from Costume Discounters because there were so many great ones to choose from!

They had costumes for every occasion from Disney, fairytale, pirates, TV characters, animals, etc. I loved them all but alas only could choose one!

I fell in love with the Tinkerbell Costume from Costume Discounters. I couldn’t wait to get this costume and try it on my daughter right away! Leah looked so so cute, she has really blonde hair so she looked just like Tink!

I also started to look on the website for Halloween costumes for my husband and I, and couldn’t choose which one was best! They have some really awesome 20’s, pirates, couples costumes etc., it was so hard to choose!
