I couldn’t wait for my Cherry Blossom Wall Decal to arrive so I could put it up in my home. When it arrived my husband and I put it up right away.  It comes on a big 50” x 26” sheet and each branch, twig and flower is on it’s own.  I love this since we were free to design the tree just as we wanted for the wall we were putting it on.  Since some of the branches are so large I recommend having 2 people to put it up.  It was really fun to create this tree with all the blossoms and flowers.  Since we are able to choose where everything goes it truly is a unique work of art.  I love that these Wall Hugs stickers are re-positionable and re-usable.  So if you don’t put it exactly where you need it, no problem just peel it off and try again.  It really made the process so easy to do.

 

Once we had finished I stood back and gasped because it was so beautiful! Just from seeing it on the DesignYourWall website I had imagined it would look very pretty up on my wall but I had no idea it would be as gorgeous as it is.  The pictures can’t do justice to how adorable it looks in person.  It’s sooooo cute!  I actually keep finding myself going into that room just to look at how gorgeous it is :)

I’ve always loved wall decals, but they seemed like a hassle, and one that I purchased from Target a while ago kept falling off, so I was a little turned off by them for awhile. But nonetheless, I still was excited to try out designyourwall.com’s Wall Hugs! We were able to review the Alphabet Zoo, and I absolutely LOVE it! All the animals and letters are modern, cute, and fantastic colors. My favorite is the Owl. I knew exactly where I wanted them {the playroom} but have been meaning to paint in there, so I wanted to wait to set up our Animal Zoo until then. So in order to check them out, I just opened it and peeled off the Hippo & letter H. They’re supposed to be re-usable, right? Well what better way to put it to the test on the living room wall. Let me tell you, I was skeptical, but am now a believer! Both pieces stuck to the wall immediately, and didn’t seem like they were coming off easily. I was really hoping I didn’t ruin it! But when I started to peel them back off, they came right down, and I easily put them back on the roll. Magic! I saw some of their holiday Wall Hugs, and thought they are adorable, but there’s no way you could actually use them year after year- how could they stick to the wall well, but also come off, and still stick the next year? Well, I wasn’t able to answer HOW that’s possible, just that it is. I’m thinking next year I’m going to buy one of their fun little Christmas trees! I love that the Animal Zoo pieces all come separate, so you can use your own creativity- put them all together, or line them at the top of the wall around the whole room. D.I.Y. Crafting Kits and Projects ~ Poppy Seed Projects Review and Giveaway [CLOSED]

I am not a huge crafter BUT if someone gives me directions I can usually follow them and end up loving the results. Poppy Seed is a great place to find D. I. Y. Crafting Kits and Projects. I love that they give you the step by step instructions and any additional materials that you need.

I just purchased a home a couple months ago and I needed some things to decorate my new place. I came across Poppy Seed Projects and thought this is perfect! I decided to choose 3 projects and it took me a little while to get them IMG_2157done because I had just had the baby. These projects were super easy and super cute! If I can do them anyone can! I chose the HOME blocks for my first project. Basically I was sent 4 blocks of plain wood, the vinyl letters and that was it!  I started out with painting the blocks black and then I selected the scrapbook paper that I wanted and added some mod podge and Walla! I think they turned out pretty dang cute!

I really like their section of home decor craft kits. Each Kit comes with several items and detailed instructions. One of my favorite kits is the Countdown Blocks. So so cute!

I own several Crane Humidifiers and have been very impressed with the quality and performance of each.  I just love the adorable designs they have!  So I was thrilled to try out their Electrostatic Air Purifier.  I can be paranoid about germs especially when I have a new baby in my home.  Since I am expecting a precious little one in June, this Air Purifier couldn’t have come at a better time.  I am so excited to know that the air our new angel will breath in will have been purified by this wonderful product.  It Removes up to 95% of Airborne Allergens and Reduces up to 90% of Viruses AND Bacteria within 2Hours!  That is impressive.  I will be using it mainly in the nursery once baby arrives, but for now it is in our family room.  I have even noticed that it will help with odors.  For example the other night I made dinner and it was very potent (good but strong smell).  Having this air purifier running really helped remove a smell that would have normally lasted for days.

Wall Decals for Kid’s Room Decoration ~ Leo Wall Stickers Review and Giveaway [CLOSED]

I think it is so much fun decorating my house.  Probably my favorite rooms to decorate are kids rooms.  Recently we did a little mini makeover on Bug’s jungle room and when I saw these Wall Decals for kids room decoration at Leo Wall Stickers I knew they would be the perfect addition to Bug’s room.  I immediately fell in love with the jungle themed stickers and they are perfect for his decor.

First I want to show you the before and after pictures of his room. (Then I will talk about applying them).  The stickers have made his room so much fun!  They are bright and crisp images that look fantastic against his lime green walls.  Especially the monkeys, they are so adorable above his loft bed.

Putting the stickers up was easier than I thought it would be.  They send a great little flyer with really good instructions as well as a Leo Squeegee application tool.  Here is how easy it is to apply the small stickers:

First you want to make sure your wall surface is clean and dry.  Then you peel off the backing paper slowly, making sure the sticker stays on the sticky side.

Next you stick it on the wall where you want it to be.

Use the Leo Squeegee application tool that was included in your shipment to press the sticker to the wall.

Then you slowly remove the sticky paper at an angle making sure the sticker stays on the wall.

Press down on the sticker with your hand to make sure it is all sticking to the wall.

For larger stickers the process is slightly different:

First you have to place the whole thing (with backing paper) on the wall where you want it.  Then place tape across the middle.

Peel the top half off of the backing paper.

Cut the backing paper away.

Stick the top half of the sticker on the wall.

Repeat the same process for the bottom half.IMAG1266

Use the Leo Squeegee to flatten it all to the wall.

Remove the sticky paper slowly at an angle.

Press down on the sticker with your hand to make sure it is all sticking to the wall.

Like I said I found the process easy but it was time consuming so make sure you have plenty of time set aside to do it.  I am loving how Bug’s room looks now that he has these Leo Stickers and he LOVES it even more than I do.  He said “Wow, my room looks cool!”

To be honest with you, I wasn’t quite sure what I would do with a fountain from Kinetic Fountains. It only took me a few minutes to look through their website to realize that I had use for one after all!! In fact, after going through their HUGE selection of fountains (of every kind), I found several that I could see in my futureSmile.

I received the Stacked Rocks Tabletop Fountain from Kinetic Fountains and I have plans to give it as a thank you gift. I think it will look great in an office and create a nice calming atmosphere for everyone that sees (and ChristmasGift2011hears) it. There were several other tabletop fountains that would be a great gift for anyone with an office….at home or at work!

I have to say, my all time favorite fountains were the Logo Fountains. In a few years, my husband may own his own dental practice and I totally see one of these fountains in his waiting room!! kinetic7Heaven knows that dental patients need something to calm them before sitting in the dental chair right? rug I wanted to get a rug for our family room so I started looking for an Area Rug from Mohawk Home. They have such a wonderful selection of rugs to choose from that it was hard to narrow down my decision.  I ultimately decided on the Mohawk Home Kodiak Buckskin 8 ft. by 10 ft. Area Rug in Brown because I knew it would be a perfect match for our home and decor.

It is such a gorgeous rug!  It is nice and plush, very soft and the mixture of brown, off white, tan and gold colors in it is beautiful.  I couldn’t believe how much better our family room looks with this rug in it.  It made it so cozy and warm.  Now it really feels like a family room to me.  I had always felt like the room was too big and open and this was the added touch it needed.

Our 4 year old has never just laid on the floor in our family room but since we put this rug there, he will lay on it and watch TV and roll around playing.  It is a very plush shag rug that is super comfy.  He is really enjoying it, along with the rest of the family.  I love that this rug has made it such a cozy place for him and everyone in our family to enjoy :)

If you don’t have an area rug in your family room or in another room of your home, I highly recommend purchasing a Mohawk Home Rug.  It is a great quality rug and has made a huge difference in the look of our home!

Brag Worthy Christmas ~ SOUND+SLEEP Machine Sleep Therapy System Review and Giveaway [CLOSED]

Since I am pregnant I have had trouble sleeping lately so I have been looking for a drug-free sleep solution to help me sleep better at night.  When I searching my options I came across the SOUND+SLEEP system and had to try it out.

When it arrived I was really impressed by the size of the unit.  It is nice and small and doesn’t take up much space on my night stand.  I also like the sleek black design, it looks great. image

But the real wow factor came when I turned it on for the first time.  The sound is so clear and a great quality.  I have tried other cheap sound machines and their sound quality is nothing like the SOUND+SLEEP.  The sounds from this machine are all recorded from nature so they are very real sounds.  It also has a precise volume control buttons so you can get the volume that is perfect for you.  At first I thought the price was high for a sound machine but once I heard it I knew it was worth every penny!

I have been using the SOUND+SLEEP machine for about a week now and I have noticed an improvement in my sleep.  I fall asleep much faster and I don’t wake up as much as I used to. I feel more rested when I wake up in the morning so I know I am getting a deeper better sleep.  My favorite sound to sleep to is brook, with my second choice as rainfall.  The water sounds are really soothing to me. I have also found my SOUND+SLEEP unit is perfect for relaxation.  I love the Meditation sound for this.  I will turn it on and sit in my room to unwind after a long busy day.  It really helps me to relax and de-stress before an evening with my family.

If you don’t want the machine to run all night you can set the timer for 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes.  This is a great option for nap time (for you or your kids) my son wakes up when the timer goes off so I can schedule his naps for the length I need.

Another thing I love is that there is a display button you can push and the lights on the machine will go off.  I really appreciate this since I don’t like any lights on in my room while I sleep.  An added bonus!

It May Sound Crazy But…I Love Doing Laundry!

I continue to be amazed by how much my Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer Pair can do.  It really has eliminated so much work for me.  Like:

  • Before I had the pair I used to have to measure out my detergent for each load.  The Duet washer has a precision dispense system. So I simply fill the cartridge reservoir with my detergent and the washer will ration out the detergent based on the load it is washing. The reservoir can hold up to 36 loads with each fill. It is amazing! I know now that I was using way to much and it was costing me as well as it wasn’t good for our laundry.image
  • The Duet Dryer has steam!  I love the steam.  I usually forget to get the laundry out of the dryer right when it finishes and so my clothes end up wrinkled.  Not a problem with the Duet Dryer I can set it on a refresh cycle with steam and it gets all the wrinkles out.  This saves me SOOOO much time since I won’t have to iron the clothing.image
  • The Washer also has uses steam and is so great for getting out stains.  It has a Deep Clean Steam option which penetrates deep into fabrics to break down and dissolve stains and grease.  Best of all I don’t have to pre-treat the stain first!image
  • There are so many cycle options on the washer I can find the perfect setting for what I am washing.  I especially love the hand wash cycle.  It is so gentle and mimics washing in the sink.  I have so much more time now that I don’t have to sit and wash all my delicates by hand.
  • We have the pedestals under our pair and it has been so nice!  I no longer have to break my back when switching laundry from the washer to the dryer.  The pedestals put the pair at such a great level.  I really love it.  And the fact that they are drawers is just icing on the cake.  It really helps me to stay organized in my laundry room.whirlpool
  • I also have the Whirlpool Laundry Worksurface and love it.  It sits on top of the pair and provides a nice smooth and flat surface for folding, laying clothing flat to dry, or anything else you need it for.  An added bonus to having this is that it protects the top of my pair. For whatever reason our pair seems to be a catch all for random objects (like my hubby’s tools) now that I have the worksurface it is protected from these items denting or scratching my pair.

My Favorite Scents Fresh From Nature

 

The sense of smell is such a powerful memory trigger for me.  I will smell things and it will take me back to my childhood or back to a specific memory.  All based on a smell.  I think it is incredible how our memories are tied so strongly to our sense of smell.

My favorite scents by far are the scents fresh from nature.  I absolutely love the way it smells after it has rained.  I love to just sit outside enjoying the smell.  It is so fresh and such a great nature smell.  Honestly if outside could smell like it just rained all the time I don’t think I would ever be indoors :)

I also love the smell of the forest.  When I was younger we went camping a lot and I went into the mountains with my dad to chop firewood.  When I am in the mountains with all the wonderful smells it takes me back to those times with my dad and my family.  We had so much fun camping and spending one on one quality time with my dad in the mountains was so special to me.  Being able to have the memories come back to me so strong because of the scents is priceless to me.

Another smell I love is Fresh Raspberries.  My parents have a ton of raspberry bushes in their back yard and we love to go out and pick the fresh berries.  They are so delicious and the smell is so amazing.  So fresh, so sweet.  I love love love it.

I love babies.  They are so sweet and cute and they smell so great!  To me there isn’t a better smell in the world than a freshly cleaned baby.  Whenever I get to chance to hold and cuddle a baby I will not pass up the opportunity.  For me now that Bug is getting older I miss his baby days.  So when I hold a baby now and I smell that sweet baby smell it takes me back to when Bug was a baby and those are some of the most fond memories I have.

This nightlight is easily Bug’s favorite nightlight so far.  What kid wouldn’t love it?  The balls glow and are portable! Awesome!  I like that the balls themselves don’t have anything electrical in them, which means they won’t get hot and they aren’t going to get broken easily. Perfect for little kids.  You can select one color or have the colors rotate.  This nightlight is perfect for middle of the night trips to the bathroom, to parents room etc…Bug grabs one and carries it with him when he comes in my room scared. It really comforts him and makes it so I don’t hear the screaming “Mommy, Mommy” in the middle of the night (I don’t miss that).  He even has fun just playing with the nightlight.  It is a nightlight and a cool toy in one.  I highly recommend this nightlight :)

Reinvent the chalkboard: It’s amazing how easy it is to turn an entire wall into a chalkboard. To create a bold canvas for your child’s creativity, all you need is chalkboard paint, which now comes in a variety of colors. There are even some homemade recipes for making chalkboard paint that you can find online (although I haven’t tried them out).  Kids can use their newfound canvas to make drawings, invent puzzles, leave notes, play math games and generally just have fun.

Laundry Tips and Tricks

 

whirlpool2 I just love doing laundry now that I have my Duet Washer and Dryer Pair from Whirlpool.  I thought I would share a few tips & tricks I have learned for doing laundry:

Keep your blacks black and your colors bright!

It is always smart to make sure you are using the proper cycles for the clothes you are washing.  Make sure you know which cycles are best for certain colors and fabrics.  I love that my Duet Washer has Smart temperature control which helps reduce shrinking and color bleeding. It also offers 14 specialty fabric care cycles!  So I can easily find the best cycle for the load I’m washing. And the “Care control temperature management enabled by 6th Sense technology helps protect your clothes by controlling water amount and temperature.” I love how easy the Duet Washer makes doing laundry :)

Keep Sheets & Blankets from Balling Up-

“When you are removing the bed sheet from the washer, Tre likes to give the sheets a quick snap before them into the dryer. This should help the items from not balling up and dry more evenly. He suggests drying items of equal weight, so try to wash/dry your fitted and flat sheets together, but leave the blanket and towels for a different load.”-Whirlpool Fabric Expert Tre

Avoid a Stinky Washer-

Much like a top loader, a front loader washing machine requires that you leave the door open after a cycle.  This will ensure that it completely dries out and you will avoid the stinky mildew smell that comes if you shut it and don’t allow it to dry.

To Remove Blood Stains-

“Rinse the garment in cold water and treat it with a color-safe bleach like Oxi or hydrogen peroxide.”-Whirlpool Fabric Expert Treclothes stains

To Remove Grease Stains-

“If you have grease on your clothes, I recommend pre-treating with a pre-treater and rubbing it in. If you are out to eat and drop something on your clothes, I recommend using club soda at the restaurant to help start the stain removal process. The longer a grease stain sits, the more difficult it can become because it continues to oxidize and actually changes the chemical form of the stain. One thing I would like to stress is to be careful with "clear" stains, such as white wine, champagne, white grape juice, etc. because they can oxidize as well and will eventually turn brown.”-Whirlpool Fabric Expert Tre

Clean Your Washer-

One thing that I have recently learned is that your washer needs to be cleaned regularly.  It makes sense when I think about it, I just never knew until now.  Affresh_REG_Washer-CleanerYou can buy affresh Washing Machine Cleaner and run it in your washer regularly to keep it working at it’s best and cleanest capacity.  I love that my New Whirlpool Duet Washer has a cleaning cycle.  It’s so nice!  I notice a difference when I use the aafresh cleaner in my washer.  I highly recommend using it regularly in your washer.

Clean Your Dryer-

You don’t have to run a cycle to clean your dryer.  But you do need to make sure you are emptying the lint trap after each load you dry.  You also need to clean the trap every couple months to prevent build up.  Follow these easy steps:

1. Roll lint off the screen with your fingers.

2. Wet both sides of lint screen with hot water.

3. Wet a nylon brush with hot water and liquid detergent. Scrub lint screen with the brush to remove residue buildup.

4. Rinse screen with hot water.

5. Thoroughly dry lint screen with a clean towel.

Use the Proper Products and Amounts-

Using too much detergent isn’t good for your clothes.  Even worse, it’s bad for your wallet since you have to buy more.  You really only need the amount that the bottle says.  Most detergents now are strong enough that you only need a little.  I can’t begin to tell you how much I love the feature of the The Precision Dispense Ultra system in my duet washer.  It releases only the amount of detergent needed for the load.  Yes, it senses the load and then decides how much to use. Love that it takes the measuring out of the equation for me.  It also releases bleach and fabric softener at the right time during the cycle for optimal fabric care.  This is one smart washer!

I was really excited to receive a personalized stamp from PJ Greetings!
