3 Outfit Ideas to Wear at Home for NYE

How are you going to ring in the New Year this year? Are you planning on going out with friends, or celebrating with family at home? Regardless of what you have planned, there’s one thing that all NYE celebrations have in common – an outfit! Let’s take a look at some outfit ideas to wear at home for NYE this year and get your party off to a stylish start. You can even save these outfits for other parties and get-togethers throughout the rest of 2022.

Casual

It’s great that you’re staying in on New Year’s Eve and celebrating with family, but you don’t want to look like you’ve given up completely. Make sure you’re still looking festive by opting for a casual, comfortable look; maybe wear your favorite Sweet Salt’s house dress and some comfy, festive shoes. Just because it’s more laid-back doesn’t mean it should be less interesting. You can easily dress up any pair of jeans with just about anything, so be creative. A necklace will keep your outfit from being too plain; perhaps choose one made of silver or gold metal so it has that holiday feel without being overdone (or overpriced). Or maybe add a sparkly belt or blingy earrings if your shirt is plain white or neutral. Want to make it extra special? Try wearing some red lipstick—it’ll be subtle enough not to draw too much attention but will give off an air of festivity.

Dressed Up

Some choose to celebrate New Year’s Eve in style—by which we mean festively dressed up. If you want a look that’s more likely to leave people guessing about what you had for dinner than what you did during your workday, then throw on a dress and some lipstick. You don’t have to go overboard with accessories, but do put a little effort into picking out an outfit such as wearing a few simple pieces of Katie Waltman Jewelry. It doesn’t even have to be an evening dress—you can totally rock something cocktail-appropriate instead. The goal is just not looking like you rolled straight from yoga class or like there are dishes waiting in your sink when your guests arrive (unless that really is what happened).

Festive

If you want to celebrate at home, there are no rules about what you have to wear. Dress comfortably, whether that means leggings and a big cozy sweater, or sweatpants and an oversized hoodie, or if you’re having company over and would like to keep it a bit more modest, a dress from Seagull Book would be perfect for the occasion. If you’re feeling festive and want your outfit to reflect it, go with something red, white, or sparkly. You could wear sequins or lace pants with a matching top or a fun necklace that says Happy New Year! This will be your time to relax—no one is going to judge what you put on; they’ll just be happy that you’re celebrating with them.

Just because you’re celebrating New Year’s Eve at home doesn’t mean you can’t look great. It’s actually one of my favorite ways to celebrate: You get all of the fun with none of the stress and it can be a great opportunity to enjoy some downtime before diving headfirst into your goals for 2022. Whatever your plan is, I hope you have a fabulous night!
