5 Steps To Interviewing In Chinese

This post is brought to you by InternshipsChina.com.

There is no denying that China is a global powerhouse in the contemporary world. Therefore, you wouldn’t be the first to consider shifting base to China. If you are constantly attending interviews and looking for methods to land an internship in China, you have come to the right place.  Here are 5 steps and ways that you can ace your interview in Chinese!

  1. Know about the company

You must know about the company you’re interviewing for. In order to do that, you should stay updated on what the company is involved in and what their plans are heading to the future. This shows commitment from your part and shows the interviewer that you are well prepared to tackle the problems that can arise in the line of work. This also shows that you are willing to go the distance with your work.

  1. Good body language

Showcasing a good body language can go a long way in determining the success of your interview. For instance, when attending the interview, it is necessary for you to greet the recruiter with a firm handshake. It is also important to make eye contact to show that you’re involved in the conversation and not drifting away. During the interview, you must sit up straight and sit still.

  1. Appear presentable

This one is really a no-brainer. No matter what interview you’re taking, in what language, you must appear presentable. No one wants to hire a shabby-looking character. Even if you are interviewing online via Skype or other platforms, you must dress the part and appear presentable as you would in a physical interview. When attending an interview online, many people often tend to make the mistake of looking directly at the screen rather than looking at the camera. If you do that, you should stop immediately.

  1. Have relevant anecdotes ready

In your interviews, you must showcase what it is about you and your skillset that makes you the most capable candidate for the job designation. Therefore, it is necessary to have relevant anecdotes ready beforehand. You must discuss the problems you faced in your previous job and the actions you took to solve those problems. You must also highlight different skills you obtained through your studies, extra-curricular activities, and previous work posts. Of course, what you say must be in sync and corroborate with what you’ve written in your Curriculum Vitae. The easiest way to go about your interview is to be honest!

  1. Preparation for FAQs

You can expect several questions to come at your way. And, some of these questions will involve you talking about yourself, your strengths and weaknesses, and the times you faced challenging situations. When talking about yourself, you need not tell the interviewer your entire life history. Instead, you should focus on talking about recent events. When mentioning your weaknesses, you must also mention the different activities you´re undertaking to address your problems. And, when talking about challenging situations, you must discuss the problems you faced in your previous job and the actions you took to solve those problems.
