6 Ways to Celebrate Before Your Move

This is a sponsored guest post.

Some long distance movers say, moving, for all sorts of people, is often a stressful situation. You’re willingly leaving a city that you’ve probably grown to love in order to embark on a journey in a brand new place. Before you take part in that adventure, there are a couple of ways that you can make the last couple of days that you have in a city the best you’ve had in a while.

Take More Pictures

Try to make a habit out of taking photos of your friends and experiences while you’re out on the town. There are also many ways to download and print the photos from your phone or digital camera. You might even want to turn your photos into a collage for your brand new place, so you can always be reminded of your old life.

Throw A Going Away Party

The best way you can go out with a bang is having a fantastic party. Invite all of your closest friends and party until the sun comes up. Don’t forget to take a ton of pictures during the bash as well. Having one last fantastic party can help you close that chapter of your life and move onto the next, knowing that you have a strong support system to lean on.

Spend Quality Time With Your BFF

Before you head out onto the open road, make some time to catch up with your closest friends. Do all the things that you love to do, and spend time reminiscing about your best moments together. It’s important to make sure that these bonds are strong; so you can have someone to talk to if you’re missing them in the future.

Plan Getaways With Your Friends

If you’re not moving too far, plan out a weekend or two to hang out with your old friends after you’ve moved away. Planning this getaway far in advance gives everyone the change to clear your schedules and get ready for a fun, exciting time. It also gives you something to look forward to while you’re making moves in a new city. If you’re doing a long distance move that makes it difficult for frequent visits, try to plan out a weekly FaceTime or Skype call with your friends to stay in touch.

Start A Journal

Journals are great for letting your feelings out and documenting the times that you’ve had in your old city, and soon in your brand new town. You may even want to create an online journal, so you can connect with people who are going through the same experiences that you are.

Treat Yourself

Take one day and treat yourself. Whether you want to have a spa day with your friends or a shopping spree, don’t think too much about how much money you’re spending. This day is meant to relieve the stress of moving from your shoulders and create memories that you’ll cherish forever.

Nobody enjoys moving, but it’s an experience that many people have to go through. It can be quite sad to leave all that you know behind, so it’s important to have some fun before you leave. If you put forth the effort to create some amazing memories, that joy will surely help you make your move a success.
