9 Essential Baby Items That You Must Have

This is a sponsored guest post.

For every new parent, the challenge of buying baby items seems to be unending.

There’s usually a ton of products that you need to purchase starting from bottles, to washcloths, diapers, strollers, and much more. Navigating such a long list of items and trying to cover all baby items starting with A to Z can get tiring and frustrating, to say the least.

So to make the process for you easier, we’re listing some of the most essential baby products that you can never miss out on. Though it isn’t an extensive list, it will ensure that the basics remain covered, and help you tackle things easier.

  1. Nappy

Needless to say, nappies are always the topmost priority when you bring a baby home. Babies have very frequent urges, and if you don’t have a good stock of nappies at all times, you’ll end up having a big crisis. Make sure that you purchase modern cloth nappies that are soft, comfortable, and non-abrasive.

  1. Breast Pump

Another essential item that you must get is a breast pump. Breastfeeding can become very challenging very fast, especially if your baby isn’t consuming enough. A breast pump will allow you to keep breast milk at hand at all times, and will also provide you relief as well. There are a large variety of breast pumps available, with numerous features and prices, so you can easily find one that suits your requirements and budget.

  1. Swaddling Clothes

Swaddling rags are soft pieces of cloth that are used to wrap babies, to keep them dry and warm. They are made with soft fabrics and tend to resemble large handkerchiefs. Swaddling rags are essential for newborns, as it keeps them warm and cozy. Make sure that you have a good number at hand since they will get soiled fairly easily and quickly.

  1. Feeding Bottles

Several new parents have the misconception that if you’re breastfeeding, you don’t need feeding bottles but that’s wrong! Feeding bottles allow you to store breast milk for later use, when you may not be physically present with your baby. Breastfeeding can also get very physically taxing for the mother, which is when bottles come into use. Make sure that the bottles you buy are high quality and safe for prolonged use.

  1. Diaper Bag

Just because you have a newborn doesn’t mean that you won’t need to visit places, and when you go out, having a diaper bag is necessary. Even if it’s just for a grocery store run, you never know when a problem may arise. When buying a diaper bag, ensure that it has enough space for all your belongings, is comfortable to carry for long periods, and of course, is fashionable as well.

  1. Sterilizer

Before you give your baby a feeding bottle, a pacifier, or any item for that matter, make sure that it has been properly sterilized. Now, the usual go-to method is to boil it in hot water, but that may not always be effective. A baby sterilizer will make the process much easier and give you risk-free results so that you can always make sure that your baby is healthy and safe from germs and pathogens.

  1. Nursing Clothes

Along with baby items, it is important to get yourself nursing clothes as well. These are clothes specially designed for nursing moms, for easy feeding and to provide comfort. Nowadays, major fashion houses like HM have nursing clothes collections as well, so you don’t have to worry about them not being fashionable or stylish. Pro tip: Get your clothes in dark colors to cover up any spills that might occur.

  1. Baby Crib and Blankets

Before you even bring your baby home, make sure that you have a crib prepped and ready. This doesn’t mean just buying a crib and placing it in the room but it also entails placing soft blankets and pillows and keeping it comfortable and cozy for your newborn. The crib should be a good size and have enough space for your baby to move and turn, whereas the blankets should be light and comfortable.

  1. Baby Monitor

Last but not least is a baby monitor. A baby monitor is crucial and you simply cannot leave it out of your list. A baby monitor is essentially a device that works like a visual walkie-talkie and lets you monitor your child’s bedroom from yours. Baby monitors nowadays are highly advanced, and they offer a lot of features that allow you to monitor your child easily.
