Understanding E-Cigarettes: What Is in Vape Juice?

The e-juice that e-cigarettes use does not contain tobacco, which is found in traditional cigarettes. E-juice, a solution of liquid nicotine and other ingredients, is used in e-cigarettes instead. So, what exactly is e-juice, also known as vape juice? What could it be made of?

Many people have been using Vapes Australia with e-cigarettes without really being aware of what they are vaping. Fortunately, in this article, we are going to discuss the most important ingredients used in e-juice: nicotine, flavorings, water, propylene glycol, and vegetable glycerin. Read through this article to learn more.

Nicotine

This is a habit-forming stimulant that is used in e-juice but is also in the tobacco in traditional cigarettes. In the latter, nicotine is used in large amounts, whereas e-juice with differing amounts can be purchased. When you smoke e-cigarettes, the nicotine in the e-juice raises your heart rate and blood pressure because the central nervous system is stimulated.

Nicotine affects the brain and increases the amount of dopamine being released, which in turn causes a pleasurable feeling. Nicotine inhaled in the form of vapor is much safer than smoking tobacco. Of course, those who are underage, pregnant women, and people with underlying conditions are still at risk for health issues. When liquid nicotine makes any contact with the skin or is ingested in large enough amounts, it can cause vomiting and sometimes seizures and death. It is important to wear gloves when you are refilling your e-cigarette.

Water

H2O is a very important component of e-juice. It is a liquid base that holds most of the other ingredients and is vital in the heating of the e-juice. Cotton or any other similar material pulls the water into a metal coil. The heat in the metal coil turns the water into small droplets that can be inhaled easily.

Flavorings

There are more than seven thousand flavorings that exist: coconut, unicorn milk, cinnamon, ice mint vape juice, cherry, and many more. Many manufacturers usually do not list the ingredients because they consider them to be a business secret. The only thing they assure their customers is that their flavorings have been acknowledged to be safe by the FDA.

It is not easy to list all the different flavors used in making different types of e-cigarettes. But let’s just mention diacetyl. This chemical is perfectly fine to ingest and is mainly used to give a buttery taste to popcorn. But when used in large amounts, it can trigger an incurable disease known as obliterative bronchiolitis (OB). Therefore, you should vape e juice from reputable companies that do not use ingredients like diacetyl to prevent such diseases.

Propylene Glycol

Propylene glycol is a tasteless, scentless, and colorless alcohol that is commonly used in antifreeze mixtures to raise the freezing point of water. According to the FDA, this liquid is safe when used to make food or drugs or even cosmetics. Although, research has shown that sometimes propylene glycol can cause irritation to the lungs, and this makes it harmful to people with lung ailments like asthma.

Vegetable Glycerin

It is a colorless liquid that has a sweet flavor. Like all the other ingredients of e-juice, vegetable glycerin is considered safe by the FDA. It is mostly found in food and drugs.

Conclusion

All the above ingredients of e-liquids, like Bad Drip Labs for example, are considered safe and acceptable for consumption. The only things that remain unknown are the risks that may develop when these ingredients are used in large amounts for many years. More information will likely be discovered as time passes.
