Some nights are like every other day of the month and some nights are like stepping into the moment that is forever frozen in time for those that were there. The night was a fashion, music, entertainment and talent show. From the arrival of the guests, and the final walk of the night it was art, collaboration and community. So, it wasn’t a fashion show, it was a cultural event, a collaboration between the designers, musicians, models, coaches, media and collaborators, and a party like no other.
A Room That Slowly Turned into a World
A Room Like the Earth It was all abuzz at the beginning of the night. Everyone arrived at 6:45. People were waiting out the front to be registered for what would be a great night. At 7:30 it was party time. People were being checked in, exhibitors were talking to prospects and wine was flowing as people were starting to get to know each other. There was sitting happening, but not a rush to do it – this was a big deal. This was a viewing space. This was not a viewing space; it was a creative space.
Setting the Tone: Music That Opened the Night
The show started with a musical show NoirxA and her sweet voice and we were already with her, listening to her vulnerable voice. Her voice was powerful, calming and toning. De Ray Luna also started to play the violin. This was a gentle, sweet and emotional introduction with her voice and classical instruments. It was a show and a spectacle.
Transition Into Fashion: The Energy Shift at 8:30
The band was there at the end of the musical performance. Into the Fashion: 8:30 Energy Shift 8:30 all eyes to the fashion. Lashdae Designs kicked the night off with a fashion show. No sashay but a show and tell. It was a night of lights, dance and fashion. A talent showcase was in the offing.
Designers Who Defined the Night
The Designers of the Night Designers displayed their skills and put together a designers’ showcase that was rightfully individual, high quality and creative.
The designers were:
• GMRH Official
• Just Legacy Vintage
• Hummingbird
• House of Remi Rose
• Janelle Redesigned
• Priceless Boutique
All the collections were unique. They had modern, vintage and special designs. Hence, the audience was not bored. It was rather like being in a different world. The audience kept on applauding, giving feedback and acknowledging everyone’s success. Models Who Became the Story The success of the event was the models. They didn’t model the designs, they “became” the designs.
Models Who Became the Story
They added attitude to the designs through their poses, gestures and facial expressions. But even more astounding was their development throughout the night. Many of the models were first time models and by the end of the show, they were on the catwalk like they had been doing it for years. This was due to the coaching.
The coaches were:
• Michael Todd
• Jasmine Banks
• Lena Marie
• Chelsey Ryann
• Aaron Waddy
These coaches not only covered all the technical stuff, but style, attitude and performance. This was reflected in the performance. Why Not Paris? After the performance it’s understandable that people would have thought: “Why not Paris?” This was because of the talent. It wasn’t too much but rather the truth.
A Performance That Shifted the Energy Again
It was a global and professional catwalk. Jazzy J: A Change of Energy As the fashion show progressed, Jazzy J was able to put on a performance, which turned emotional. Jazzy J had an acoustic set-up, which included a song sung a capella. The music of her voice was without many instruments. At times you could hear the audience clapping. It demonstrated that the common ground for music and fashion is expression.
She Loves Swayy: The Headlining Energy Shift
She Loves Swayy: Headlining Energy Change She Loves Swayy was the last to perform. It was instant as he stepped on the floor. This show was all about the connection. Models were walked out and they were made part of the audience and not the usual set up for the event. It all became about the participation of the room with the performers, models and audience blending into the crowd.
The Final Run: Joseph Line Company Closes the Show
The Grand Finale: Joseph Line Company The grand finale of the fashion show was supplied by Joseph Line Company with a final collection of 11 items.
The collection included:
• Denim jackets
• A bomber jacket
• A crop baseball jersey set
• A soccer-inspired set
The sets were both very urban and had sportswear influences; they were to communicate both fashion and culture. The final walk was a bold one, and this was responded to by the audience. This was not a quiet ending, but one that really brought the event to a close. Michael Todd and Joseph Line Company were the organisers and producers of the event.
The Media Team That Captured the Night
Signatures for Joseph line company were part of the ecology of the brand and event; the merchandise, the tickets and the hospitality. All aspects of the runway, the models and the audience’s response were filmed. Chriss Lay was the media supervisor for the night and provided leadership, stability and creativity. Chriss Lay and photographers shot the runway – to demonstrate the movement, texture and design of the garments as they moved on stage.
Photographers included:
• Tom Cheswick
• Scott Hall
• And others to help
They were mainly shooting the models and the designers’ designs. And MrOmega Media was there to capture the people and environment. The reactions, interactions and reactions of the audience and the milieu. Now, Omega didn’t coordinate the event. He only documented the event – he captured the milieu and ambience – he didn’t produce it. Other production and co-ordination made the event a success.
Production, Coordination, and Leadership
Chriss Lay co-ordinated the media and logistics for the event. He co-ordinated the video and photographic filming to make sure they had time to capture detail. Joseph Line Company and Michael Todd also created some of the production and co-ordinated. When Aaron Waddy was added to the team, the preparation for the models was complete as there was even more feedback.
It Was Never Just One Team
One key take out from the night was that there was no one team. There was a series of creative natural disasters: Designers, models, coaches, musicians, photographers, media production teams, production organisers, vendors and platforms. It was a team, not an individual effort. The Closing Impression By the end of the night, what remained was not just imagery or performances, but a sense of momentum.
The Closing Impression
The fashion show demonstrated the importance of encouraging young talent, and working together with organization, ingenuity and innovation. Everything was connected. And in this connection, the night wasn’t “just” a performance – it was a testament to the power of creative communities.
