I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Seventh Generation. I received a promotional item and product samples as a thank you for participating.
I have teamed up with Seventh Generation to help spread awareness about the important of chemical reform in the United States. I have to admit I have been a little naïve and blind about this issue, until now. I have learned so much!
Why Do We Need To Address Chemical Reform?
- “More than 80,000 chemicals available in the United States have never been fully tested for their toxic effects on our health and environment.
- Scientists have linked exposure to toxic chemicals to many health risks, such as Cancer, Alzheimer’s, learning disabilities, asthma, birth defects, and various reproductive problems.
- The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) was passed in 1976, and unlike other major environmental laws, has never been updated. As it currently stands, tens of thousands of potentially harmful chemicals continue to be used in the marketplace since the 1970’s without proper testing and without disclosure by the companies that produce them.

I was floored to realize that so many household chemicals are not fully tested. What?! That is a huge deal for me. Not knowing what the effects of these toxins will be on our babies and our children. Not to mention the environment. I thought I was keeping my children safe, but now I’m not so sure.
I was also surprised to learn that the TSCA has not been updated in over 30 years! Wow, it is definitely time for an update!
SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?
The best time for change is NOW. I am happy to announce that I am a Toxin Freedom Fighter! I just signed the petition to urge Congress to reevaluate the Toxic Substances Control Act.
