{Brag Worthy Christmas} Roominate building toys for girls!

amusement-main

I received this item for review, all opinions are my own.

Leah is really getting to love building things and she also really loves science! I love that Roominate is promoting engineering and building toys for girls. I remember growing up that all I really had to play with was barbie dolls, my brothers building toys and a few other different toys. I never had anything that really let me build with my imagination unless it was a boy toy.

Roominate has so many really great building toys such as the cool Amusement Park! Leah and Charlotte both really love amusement parks so this is the perfect building toy for them. The Roominate Amusement Park comes with:

  • “2 wall/floor panels
  • 156 furniture building pieces
  • 96 connectors
  • 8 columns
  • 6 wheels
  • 4 axles
  • 1 motor
  • 2 strings of lights
  • 3 battery packs*
  • 1 screwdriver
  • 1 sheet of stickers
  • 1 Alice doll
  • 1 pet dog Harrie

*Requires 6 AAA batteries, not included.” (Roominate Website)

I love that there are so many different things that can be built with just one kit! The girls can have fun building the spinning carousel, giant Ferris wheel, cotton candy maker, and more! There are instructions included so that we know just what to build or we can create our own. There are even real working parts! My husband loves to build things with the girls and I know they will have so much fun building and making all of these!

“What’s cool about the Amusement Park?

  • Build a spinning carousel, giant Ferris wheel, cotton candy maker, and so much more! Includes instructions and more than 250 building pieces to build your favorite amusement park rides.
  • Add a motor and lights to bring the rides to life
  • Includes dozens of stickers to decorate your rides, ticket booth, concession stand, and more!
  • Use rPower (sold separately) to program flashing lights on the giant Ferris wheel and control the speed and direction of the spinning carousel from your phone or tablet!
  • Teaches: circuitry, creativity, physics of spinning” (Roominate website)merry-go-round

““Alice Brooks and Bettina Chen met and became friends in the master’s engineering program at Stanford. As two of the few women in the program, they compared stories on why they had pursued engineering. They were both inspired by their childhood toys.

In the US, less than 15% of women enter college intending to major in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) field. Alice and Bettina believe the gender gap starts young. Many girls’ toys lag behind in the development of spatial skills, hands-on problem solving skills, and confidence with technology. These are exactly the skills that Roominate aims to develop.

Roominate’s unique blend of building, circuits, design, crafts, storytelling, and creativity teaches kids while they play. Using motor and light circuits, modular furniture building pieces and walls, Roominate empowers kids to build endless amazing creations!

Roominate teaches:

  • Hands-On Problem Solving
  • Spatial + Fine Motor Skills
  • Self-Confidence
  • Creativity
  • Basic Circuitry

Alice and Bettina designed Roominate to inspire the next generation of innovators.” (Roominate Website)
