I am a huge fan of The Piano Guys.  I love their previous CDs and their YouTube videos.  I was very excited to receive their new CD, A Family Christmas for review.

I am pretty picky in my choices of Christmas music.  I feel that some artists just put out a lackluster Christmas album so they can get more money.  The Piano Guys A Family Christmas is not an album that falls into this category.  It is a wonderful album that I am looking forward to listening to as I put up my Christmas tree this year.

I liked that this CD had a different range of songs.  On the CD, you have very gentle songs like, ‘Away in a Manger’, and really upbeat songs like a mash up of ‘Carol of the Bells/God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.’  This song was my favorite on the CD.  I really like that the group calls it ‘Jack Sparrow of the Bells.’  That is a great way to describe this song.  In addition, this CD includes 2 original songs called ‘Winter Wind’ and ‘Christmas Morning.’

You can tell that this CD was definitely a labor of love for The Piano Guys.  On the song ‘Where Are You Christmas’, Jon Schmidt’s (the pianist for the group) daughter actually sings on the track and does a great job.  It was also fun to hear The Piano Guys sing together on the final track ‘Silent Night.’  This CD is called A Family Christmas for a reason.

This would be a great Christmas gift to buy any loved one this year.  It is definitely a fantastic Christmas album.  It will bring the holiday spirit into any home with it’s gentle and energetic music.
