I received a pair of Cruiser Youth Skates from Cardiff Skate Co. for my review. All opinions are my own.
My 7 year old son has been wanting a pair of skates for a while now. I wasn’t sure which skates to get him. Then I saw the Cardiff Cruiser Youth Skates and I loved that they go over his shoes. He was sent the Cardiff Cruiser Lime Youth Skates to try out. They fit shoe sizes kids 12 to adults 5 or 6. He wears a size 4 adult shoe right now so these fit him great.
They come ready to use right out of the box.
Putting the skates on and taking them off is pretty easy once you understand how it works (it comes with great instructions for this). You just have to open the skate once you step on it automatically closes to fit your shoe. Then you strap in. They provide a nice snug fit that is still comfortable. You can also try skates from WowSkates.
They also come with 4 speed control discs which slow down the roll of the wheels while your child gets used to using the skates. They are really easy to put on and take off. We started with the speed control discs on and he skated for about 30 minutes with those on and then he was ready to take the discs off. A few things to note: These rollerblades for youth are not made to go down big hills.
Once the speed control discs where off, it took him about an hour of practice to feel completely comfortable with the skates. Each time he uses them he gets more comfortable and better at skating on these. You can also check out Cheap Skates under $50 by WowSkates.
Now that he has had them for a couple of weeks he is skating really well on them. He loves that fact that he is just wearing the skates over his shoes, so when he is done he can just take the skates off and continue playing without having to put his shoes back on and vice versa.
A few things to note: These skates are not made to go down big hills. Also they are a little different than other skates, so we found the “How To” Videos on the Cardiff Skate YouTube page very helpful. I suggest watching those with your child before trying the skates, it helped my son understand the best way to use the skates.
I am very impressed with the quality and durability of these skates. They are well made and will last. My son loves these skates and has been enjoying them regularly when playing outside. I highly recommend these skates.

Recreational use” refers to more casual skating whereas “regular use” refers to skating for a longer duration and with greater frequency.
The S-series is recommended over the Cruiser collection for regular use because it’s covered by a longer warranty and features the best brakes, bearings, and wheel quality offered by Cardiff Skate Company.
