Four Signs You Need To Replace Your Windows

No matter how much you may wish to avoid it, carrying out regular maintenance is an essential part of being a homeowner. After all, this protects one of your most valuable assets while also ensuring that your home is a nice place to live.

While many tasks fall under this umbrella, taking good care of your windows is one of the most important. After all, damaged windows will not only impact how your home looks, but they could also open the door (or window) to significant property damage and increased bills.

This means that you should regularly inspect your windows for any signs of damage. This way, you can reach out to a window replacement or installation company, such as Window Nation, as quickly as possible.

Not sure what to look for? Don’t worry! Here are four signs that your windows need replacing.

Your home is drafty.  Perhaps the most obvious indicator that it is time to replace your windows is that you’ve noticed a draft within your home. This means that cold air is entering your home, often due to damage to the sealing around window frames, which can loosen or wear away over time.

Your energy bills are rising. If you’ve noticed that your energy bills are rising, even if your usage has stayed the same, this is often a key indicator that you need to replace your windows. This is because it means that heat is escaping your property, likely through small cracks or gaps in the windows/window frames. While this will require some investment on your end, it will allow you to sink your high energy bills as quickly as possible, saving you money in the long run.

Your windows are old. Generally speaking, it’s advised that you replace your windows roughly every 20 years. This is because, during that time, they are subject to a great deal of wear and tear, as well as both internal and external damage. As such, they are simply unable to function efficiently or to the same standards they once did.

If your windows are nearing this age, then you should arrange for a replacement to take place as quickly as possible. You’d be surprised about just how beneficial this will feel, as they will be much less efficient than newer models, especially when it comes to energy conservation.

Your windows are covered in condensation. If you have double-glazed windows, a build-up of condensation between the two panes of glass is also something to watch out for. This can be caused by a variety of different maintenance issues, from damaged sealing to poor ventilation – but in any case, it’s a sign that you need to replace your windows!

Final thoughts. From condensation to rising energy bills, there are many reasons why you may need to replace your windows. However, the sooner you respond to these challenges, the better. After all, the longer you ignore these issues, the more difficult and costly they will become to resolve, leading to unnecessary challenges and stress
