How To Make Mexican-Style Roasted Chicken?

Roasting meat is popular because it allows you to cook at high temperatures while retaining moisture. Roast chicken is a dish that has been made for centuries. It’s a simple yet delicious meal that can be prepared in a short amount of time.

Mexican roasted chicken is made using quintessential Mexican spices like cumin, oregano, and paprika to give your meat an authentic taste.

Keep reading to learn a recipe.

Place the chicken first

Place the chicken in a baking dish that’s large enough to accommodate it, emphasizing the first crucial step on how to bake chicken effectively. Roasted chicken cooked nicely will have crisp and cracked skin, with most of the fat drained out. Fully roasted thigh and legs (165-175°F) will have a well-cooked, slightly pink breast (155°F).

Top with onion, garlic, and tomatoes

Layer on the onion, garlic, and tomatoes, covering all sides of the meat. It’s essential to ensure your ingredients fully cover the chicken, so there’s no room for air pockets during cooking! Ensure that you place the onion, garlic, and tomatoes in an oven-safe dish. Your baking tray should be large enough to fit your chicken and other ingredients. If you don’t have one, use a smaller roasting pan or a simple sheet pan. Just make sure it’s made of metal or some other heat-resistant material. You’ll also want to cover the top with foil if you’re going for crispy skin, which will help prevent moisture from escaping as it cooks.

To ensure that the delicious flavor of the garlic seeps into the flesh as it cooks, slice a whole garlic bulb down the middle and lay it inside the chicken cavity.

Mix the spices

Mexican roasted chicken is made with selective spices. So, prepare your mix of herbs and add them with other chicken fillings. The spices are the heart of the dish and a vital step in making the dish. Make sure to add them according to your taste preference.

Sprinkle some cilantro

Coriander is a herb that has a strong flavor, so you only need to sprinkle some on top of the chicken before serving it. It can be found in most supermarkets’ fresh herbs section and has many health benefits, as it helps with digestion and boosts energy levels.

Cover the dish with foil for baking

Cover the dish with foil and start the baking process for 50 minutes. Remove the foil after 50 minutes and add three tablespoons of water around the edges of the pan. This will help keep your meat from drying out. Bake for another 15 minutes. Then remove the foil, add three tablespoons of water around the edges of the pan again, and bake for another 15 minutes. Bake uncovered for another 15 to 20 minutes or until chicken is thoroughly cooked.

Conclusion

If you want to try making this delicious dish, you must go ahead. While it’s easy to make, if you’re new to Mexican food or want extra guidance on how it should taste, follow the above steps. So next time you are craving Mexican food, you don’t have to, and you can quickly cook chicken in the Mexican way and enjoy it!
