I am receiving NutriSystem products and help in exchange for the Blog Posts, all opinions are my own.
I am so excited to tell you that I am now going to be starting the NutriSystem program! I will be participating for 3 months and am so excited! Nutrisystem is a great weight loss program that sends meals right to your door! I was able to pick out my own meals for the next 3 weeks (they chose them for the 1st week)
So I am really opening myself up and am going to be a bit vulnerable so I hope you follow along as I start my weight loss journey with you! Make sure you stay tuned and read every week as I document my progress!
The reason I wanted to start Nutrisystem in the first place is to get back to my pre-baby Parker weight and really feel good in my skin again. I gained about 35 lbs with Parker and really don’t have any of my clothes that I feel super great in! I am so glad it’s winter because I can wear leggings, long shirts, stretchy jeans and sweatshirts in order to hide the weight that I haven’t lost yet.
One other reason I wanted to jump start my weight loss is to feel healthy! I know that when I eat healthy, I really do feel better. So I am opening up my weight loss journey to you our readers and am really excited to hopefully inspire someone else to feel good!
Ok a bit of a back story which I have never really shared with you readers before. About 11 years ago I was severely overweight, I am 5’2 and weighed in at 215 lbs. I knew I had a problem, I knew that I needed to loose weight. I had tried a lot of different diets and some would work then I would gain the weight right back again.. I decided enough was enough and I researched what I wanted to do for about 6 months. I talked to doctors, friends, family and knew that Gastric Bypass was the answer for me. I was able to loose almost 80lbs and I felt fantastic!
Now the reason I bring this up is I have always struggled with my weight. After I had gastric bypass I really felt the weight come off and have been able to keep it off until I started having kids. I have gained with each one and with Parker I just can’t seem to get off those extra pounds. Parker is going on 6 months and yes she is still young but I want to kick this into gear now so I don’t keep saying well I just had a baby. I won’t make excuses, food and I are best friends and always will be. But now I have a weight loss plan that the food won’t take control over me. I will have control over the food. I can make the most of Nutrisystem in my own way.
I love that Nutrisystem is starting me off on the Turbo Takeoff Plan! This is a fast paced program that will jump start my weight loss. Nutrisystem picked out what I was going to eat this week for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and then 2 of their shakes that will give me protein, energy and curb my appetite. I can also have as many veggies as I want and they don’t count against my calories.
I started the program today and weighed in at 149.5. I would love to loose about 15-20 lbs but I really just want to be healthy and have better eating habits.
I am also going to let you know that I am NOT a huge veggie eater. This is going to be a bit of a struggle for me. I think after this week it will be a bit easier and I can spice it up a bit. I can’t just live on cucumbers and carrots. I am going to really have to step out of my comfort zone and eat some other non-starchy veggies.
So today here is what I ate:
Breakfast: Nutrisystem Apple Strudel Muffin (super good and actually filling!)
Turbo Shake
Snack: Cucumbers with a bit of rice vinegar and pepper
Lunch: Cheese Tortellini and more Cucumbers! (yes I need to go veggie shopping!)
Nutricrush Shake
Dinner: Santa Fe Style Chicken (ok not my favorite but still ok) and carrots
I was also able to drink water and diet coke through out the day! Ok I am not gonna lie today was a bit torturous. Now because I had gastric bypass it takes less food to fill me up and I am still hungry! I will let you know next week how the rest of my week went.
I had my husband stop at the store on the way home and get spinach, broccoli and green beans so hopefully I can figure out some exciting ways to eat those. I am also not a huge water drinker, I am so glad they allow diet coke!
What I loved day one of Nutrisystem is that each product was labeled with Breakfast, lunch or dinner and the shakes are actually mixed with water! I actually really liked the shakes and was glad they tasted good. I also like that the portion control. I sometimes have the issue of overeating and then I really don’t feel good. I can not let myself overeat or it really becomes a problem. (another blessing of gastric bypass surgery)
I really hope to inspire some of you to take that step you have been waiting for! If your wanting to learn more about the program visit www.nutrisystem.com/nsblog

My name is Missy and I’m on week 2 of the Nutrisystem program. I started on April 7, 2016. Why Nutrisystem? Honestly, I tend to want to sneak snacks. So, I feel if I have someone telling me what to eat to begin with I’ll eventually learn to eat healthy. So far, so good. I have 6.5 lbs in those 13 days. I did the first week with the TURBO10. It was a little rough at first, I felt like I was eating TOO much but I’ve also learned through dieting over the years, starving yourself does nothing. I use the NuMi app daily which has been awesome!! I love how it tracks everything for me. My water, my calories, my weight, my measurements, my activity. What I’m a little confused about is the snacking. I’m not sure if I should be on my own snacks based on their suggestions or still just do the Nutrisystem snacks. I’ve tried calling them but I feel like I’m on hold forever……any suggestions anyone or ideas? I sooooooo afraid to gain what I’ve already lost.

Hi Missy! Well Congratulations on losing those 6.5 lbs that’s a great start! So it depends on what plan you are on for Instance I am on the 1200 calorie plan and in the Numi App it will tell you exactly what to do. The snacks are all of your own picking except for the last snack of the day so here is an example of a typical day for me. (so you would purchase your own PF (Power Fuel) and SC (Smart Carbs) at the store then you can purchase Nutrisystem snacks + at least 4 servings of Non Starchy Veggies. The Powerfuel needs to be at least 5g in protein and 80-120 calories and the Smart Carb is at least 1 gram in Fiber and 80-120 calories. You also can have 3 extras under 35 calories
Breakfast: Nutrisystem Entree + 1 Power Fuel (PF)- I typically stick to the same PF because I am boring like that… I usually do 1 scrambled egg with spinach and green bell peppers or I LOVE Greek Yogurt. I usually choose the 80 or 100 calorie ones they have tons of Protein!
Snack: Powerfuel- I typically will do a String Cheese or 1 TBS Peanut Butter with Celery or I also LOVE the Yasso Brand Frozen Greek Yogurt Bars, so so yummy!
Lunch: Nutrisystem Entree- then I add some sort of veggies to it. I love zucchini or carrots in the oven sprinkled with a little garlic salt, pepper and parmesan cheese. I also have really grown to love Broccoli and Green Beans. Or you can add a big salad with Fat Free Dressing
Snack- Powerfuel and Smart Carb- I absolutely love Greek Yogurt, Peanut Butter and Celery or String Cheese for a Powerfuel.
Smart Carb- I typically save mine till after dinner but you can have it whenever. I love bananas, Apples with Chocolate PB2 (if you haven’t tried it, it’s amazing and it’s only 45 calories for 2 TBS!) it’s a powedered Peanut Butter and really good for shakes etc. I also really like sweet potato fries that I make myself.
Dinner- Nutrisystem Dinner + Veggies
Snack- Nutrisystem Snack
So here are some tips that I have found out, that I didn’t realize! You MUST eat all of your calories for the day or this program simply will not work. Also your Powerfuels and Smart Carbs can be added whenever you want throughout the day as long as you eat them! I have found an incredible support group on facebook it’s called Nutrisystem Friends. (https://www.facebook.com/groups/233900430117409/?fref=nf) I have found so many inspiring stories and gotten a lot of help and ideas from there! I really hope this helped you! Please feel free to write a response with any and all questions you may have!

Thank you sooooooo much!! This helps a lot. I’m on the 1200 calorie plan too and have not been eating all my calories. I have the NuMi app and will follow it to the “T” from now on. I need to do some grocery shopping:) I’ve been eating a lot of celery and didn’t even know I could have PB, so excited!!!
