College Preparatory Mathematics (CPM) was a project which began in 1989 as a bid to create mathematics textbooks which helped students to better understand the mathematics which was being taught, and which also better supported the teachers who were teaching the material in class. The original idea was to create textbooks which brought mathematics to learners through the use of a mix of the best curriculum possible, well-supported teaching materials, and a leadership which was supported by the curriculum itself. People also don’t like it because they say it is laid out badly – instead of having a good natural progression of difficulty level and explanations, quite a few people are saying that the problems that are given in the paper are either too easy, or far too difficult.
