The company was started in August 2014 and is solely owned by Julia Matto Weisner, an entrepreneur living in Connecticut who was searching for a unique product encompassing a history of handmade products with an environmentally friendly touch. Julia’s husband, Brian also supports her endeavors and plays a key role as financial adviser and oversees business logistics and supplier relationships.

The silk is spun after the silk worm has become a moth and flown out of the cocoon.
