“This is a sponsored post for GarageDoorCare.com. All opinions are my own.  Prize provided by GarageDoorCare.com.”

About a year ago our Garage Door completely busted and we had to have someone come out and fix it. Since then I have been extra careful to be safe with myself and my kids around the Garage Door. If you think about it a garage door can be kind of a scary thing. If you don’t pull your car in far enough it could smash down on it. There are so many things that could go wrong! The other day my girls lost their beach ball up on the garage door and I had to shut the door to get it down and that could have been fatal!

GarageDoorCare.com is a great website that really educates about keeping your family safe around garage doors. It teaches children that a garage door is not a play toy and to make sure to keep everything clear from the garage door. This great website has a new video that informs us about being safe around garage doors.

“Available for viewing in both English and Spanish, the safety video points out that the garage door is the largest and heaviest moving object in a home, and that a falling garage door can cause serious injuries or even death.  The video also highlights areas of the door mechanism, such as tracks, rollers and hinges, to stay away from to help avoid injury. It also offers tips on keeping children safe.

The video discusses what homeowners can do themselves to keep their door in good working order, such as semi-annual lubrication. It also points out the areas best left to the pros, and directs consumers to GarageDoorCare.com to find a garage door service professional before a problem occurs.” (GarageDoorCare press kit)
