I was quite surprised by how little there is to these Grilling Mats. They are just a very thin piece of material and so I was curious to see how well they held up to the high heat of my grill. We decided to grill up some burgers to try the Mats out. They are really simple to use and require no pre-heating so we simple placed it on the grill grates and plopped our burgers down on top. I did notice that it does take a bit longer for the patties to cook, but it wasn’t a huge difference compared to cooking straight on the grill, or your smoker. Check out these best offset smokers. Also, the patties just sort of cooked in their own grease as apposed to the grease dripping down the grates, but that is the point. The mats keep your grill clean so you don’t have to scrape that nasty residue off after each use! You do have to clean the mat afterwards, and with the hamburger meat, ours got a little greasy, but I just wiped the grill mat down with a paper towel and then washed with warm soapy water. The Grill Mats will be the perfect thing to use to grill veggies on! I love cooking zucchini, yellow squash, and mushrooms on the grill, but they often shrink up and fall down the grates. Not anymore though!! My Grill Mats will keep them from cooking too quickly and also from getting lost in the bottom of the grill pan. You can also use Grill Mats to cook eggs, pancakes or crepes on. They would be the perfect cooking tool to take on a camping trip instead of a huge griddle. We will definitely be using them a lot more this summer!
