I was invited by Disney on an all expenses paid trip for my coverage of the #GoodDinoEvent, #ABCTVEvent, & #LionGuardEvent. All opinions are my own.
I have always wondered what it was like to be able to attend a live taping of Dancing with the Stars. Well last monday thanks to ABC & Disney, I got to find out! I attended the semi finals on 11/16!
It was AMAZING! The excitement and applause, the music, the lights, the stars! I literally had chills! But let me start at the beginning.
Then the audience warm up started and they actually invited us all to come out and dance on the DWTS Dance Floor! How exciting?!
We got our groove on and had a lot of fun. I am in this picture with Dawn from BloggingMomof4.com and Sherry from FamilyLoveAndOtherStuff.com (be sure to check out their fun blogs).
As you can see, I was very excited to be there!
We returned to our seats and we were instructed to stand and clap and yell. Then the run through started about 10 minutes before show time. They ran through the opener, dancers dancing, stars and partners coming out, and the judges coming out. It was really fun seeing that.
Then the show started. It was very exciting and I had chills! So cool!
I liked seeing all the behind the scenes set up and take down, as well as the dancers practicing between commercials and during the video clips. It is definitely interested and fun to see how a live show with so many elements can run so smoothly.
One thing most people wouldn’t realize, is that we couldn’t really hear the host (Tom Bergeron) because we were all yelling and clapping. Also, it was hard to hear the judges at times as well. So it was fun to watch the show again after and hear everything that was said.
Remember how I was telling you where I was sitting earlier in the post? Well they were great seats because every time Erin Andrews interviewed the dancers up on the balcony after they danced, you could see us. Yeah we are super small on the screen but I am still so excited that I was on TV! My family was sending me texts saying “We can see you on TV”, that was really fun! Here is a screenshot of Erin Andrews interviewing Bindi & Derek, as well as Bindi’s mom and brother. I am in the background!
After the show was over we were invited back onto the dance floor for a group photo with Tom Bergeron and the judges Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba & Julianne Hough. Before the pic, Tom Bergeron was kind enough to come meet us and shake all of our hands.
It was such an amazing experience and definitely one that I will remember for the rest of my life!
After the show we went to dinner at Planet Dailies/Mixology and Alek Skarlatos and his family were there too. it was really fun because as his family walked in, Alek’s video and dance was playing and we got to watch his family watching it. It was a really cool experience. His family seems so sweet and he was so nice and agreed to take a group photo with us.
But the Dancing with the Stars fun isn’t over yet…

On Monday, November 23 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET), the finalists will compete in two rounds of dance. Carrie Ann Inaba will work alongside Linsday and Alek, as well as Bindi and Derek. Julianne Hough is with Nick and Sharna, and Bruno Tonioli is with Carlos and Witney. In the second round, in one of the biggest competitive dances of the season, the couples take on a freestyle dance featuring special effects, additional dancers and unexpected surprises. There will be special performances from Meghan Trainor, singing “Like I’m Gonna Lose You,” and Who Is Fancy, Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor performing “Boys Like You.” At the end of the night, the couple with the lowest combined viewer and judge votes from the previous two weeks will be eliminated.

The finale will be filled with performances from Alexander Jean, Andy Grammer, Chaka Khan, Elle King and Nick Carter. The cast of the upcoming “Dancing with the Stars: Live! Dance All Night Tour” will perform a dance to Avicii’s “Broken Arrows” as a sneak peak of the 90-minute show traveling the country this winter. The three finalists will each dance a repeat dance from this season. In the last element of competition, the couples will perform a new routine as part of a “24-Hour Fusion Challenge.” The remaining couples will fuse two contrasting dance styles that they’ve performed this season and they’ll have less than 24 hours to prepare that dance for judges’ points. At the end of the night, the winner of the coveted Mirrorball trophy will be announced!
