What toys are still popular for children?

It is funny how a walk past a toy store or a quick peek at your parent’s basement can take you down a stroll on memory lane-revisiting our old toys. It is impossible not to remember our favorite playthings; the teddy you couldn’t live without or the Nintendo game you couldn’t put down. Toys are a staple for generations of children of different ages worldwide. Ultimately, we outgrow them, but we never completely forget about these playthings that were a big part of our childhood.

Thinking back to your childhood, you sometimes can’t help but ask, do they still make your then-favorite retro player? Well, not all generational toys disappear with time; some are reinvented and are still popular among kids today. The latest Xbox may have crossed your mind for your nephew’s upcoming birthday, but so did many others. Why not reach to the classics for something cool to gift them instead? If you want to be the aunt and uncle with unique gifts, cool retro and classic toys still rock. Here are some toys kids today will enjoy.

  1. Teddy bears

Created in the early 20th century, teddy bears remain a favorite among children and parents too. Initially, teddy bears were made to look like real bears with extended snouts and beady eyes, but they have changed as time progresses. Today, most of them are adorable versions that could be

  1. Monopoly

In a tech dominating world, board games are a refreshing game for children. They are a great way to bond over and pass the time among kids. Board games in the market are numerous, but there is nothing quite like a game of Monopoly. A favorite in many households to date, believe us when we say memories to be made at a table playing Monopoly.

  1. Building toys

Growing up, building toys is one game many of us did not fail to have in our toy box, and today we can’t imagine walking in a toy room covered with elaborate toy mansions. Building toys today are much more than bricks and blocks they used to be. There are foam blocks, wooden blocks and bristle blocks, and magnetic blocks, all of which are still a favorite among kids, and we get why. Montessori wooden toys inspire collaborative play and teach communication skills and language at a very young age. Most importantly, this is a gift that will last, and it would be interesting to see how kids develop spatial abilities over time playing with them.

  1. Star Wars toys

Talk about a blast from the past!  This 1970s love among kids, so why wouldn’t it be an entire franchise dedicated to the series? If you have introduced your child to Star Wars, then this is a toy they would enjoy. Imagine a mini-you in the 80s or 90s gifted an action figure of your favorite Jedi? Mind-blowing, we know! Although younger audience today do not necessarily gravitate towards action figures there are animatronics and many more Star War products you can get for your child.

  1. Barbie dolls

There is no toy more iconic than the iconic Barbie doll. Since she first graced the market in 1959, the barbie doll has gone through quite a transformation. A product of the Mattel toy company, the Barbie doll first represented an infant until later when the co-founder’s Ruth Handler suggested the adult version of the beauty. Today there are over versions of the barbie doll, and ever since, the company has sold billions.

The phrase out with the old is not always applicable, especially when it comes to toys. Some oldies are still goldies. I mean, what’s not to love about the classic toys above? They are fun, and any time you are stumped for ideas on what to get, the list above could be your go-to for gift ideas. We bet any child would be happy to have them mark their childhood!
