Why You Need a Pool Cover for Your Pool

This is a sponsored guest post.

People who have pools in their house, normally tend to not have pool covers for various reasons. This could be because they don’t like how it looks on the pool, and doesn’t go well with the aesthetics, or mainly because it is annoying to keep on putting them back again and removing them. But after reading the article you will realize how important and crucial they are for the pool and you can get them from this website. With that being said, they also have some drawbacks that might put you off from buying it. Here are all the pros and cons of getting a pool cover:

Benefits:

  1. Pool covers result in a significant amount of increase in temperature, almost around 5 degrees. This means that you can save a lot of money on heating because it would be serving almost the same purpose as an electric heater. This is mainly because the material the pool covers are made of, they tend to collect a lot of direct sunlight, and they prevent your pool from catching all the harmful UV rays that could be dangerous for you and your family to swim in.
  2. The amount of chlorine that you would potentially consume in the pool reduces with a pool cover. What the cover does is that it reduces the quantity of the UV rays that hit the water which means that you won’t be consuming that amount which you would otherwise if there wasn’t a pool cover present.
  3. The amount of water that would evaporate from the pool would reduce significantly, because the cover prevents the evaporation. Especially during the summer time when the sun is at its peak, it will cause the level of the water to come down below the height of the skimmers which will damage your pumps because they will be sucking in air. Most importantly, you won’t have to constantly fill the pool up with water, and you will be saving on water bills this way.
  4. During the fall time when there are a lot of leaves flying and dropping into the pool, your pool cover will stop that from happening. They will simply collect on the pool cover, after which you can use a lead blower on it and get rid of the leaves. You won’t have to go through the hassle of using a net to collect the leaves from the pool which takes up a lot of energy and time of your own. Also, when there are fewer leaves falling into the pool that means there is a reduced consumption of chlorine which will also save you potential costs.

Disadvantages

  1. Pool covers don’t usually look the best on the pool, especially when you have a beautiful theme going on in your backyard, and the cover taints that image.
  2. During the summer time, when your pool is in constant use, it can be quite annoying having to put and remove it again and again.
  3. If you are planning on getting a bubble cover, then you will have to get another cover for it so that the sun stays off them which is twice the work.
  4. If the water isn’t being evaporated, that means the salt content in the pool isn’t being removed. The pool cover will also collect a lot of rainwater, meaning you will have to drain the water out using the pump which will get rid of all the other chemicals in the pool too.
  5. You may have to lower the amount of water in the pool which means you will have to fill it up frequently too, which defeats the purpose of a pool cover.
  6. If you have a pool that is not the standard shape, then pool covers won’t be of much use and it will be difficult to find a cover that is best suited for your pool.
