113632_galMy friend and I had the opportunity to review the new movie Winter’s Tale and we both really enjoyed it. Winter’s Tale is PG-13 and is not suitable for children under 13 years of age. I really loved this movie and was on the edge of my seat almost the entire movie. I really didn’t know what to expect going into it and was happily surprised I loved it!

Winter’s Tale stars Colin Farrell,  Jessica Brown Findlay and Russell Crowe . Peter Lake (Colin Farrell) is a petty crook who goes into houses and different places to steal things. He owes Pearly (Russell Crowe) alot of money and Pearly is out to get him. While running away from Pearly and his men Peter is cornered and all of sudden is saved by a beautiful white horse who is not just any horse. This beautiful horse becomes Peter’s saving grace and is a magicial, mystical thing. Peter decides to leave town until the dust settles with Pearly and then decides to do one last job. Peter goes into a house and meets the beautiful Beverly Penn who is dying from consumption and who steals his heart.

DSC_8310.dng 113631_galI really loved Colin Farrell as Peter Lake, he was the thief that you loved and wanted him just to be happy. I loved seeing him play out his softer side. Some of my favorite parts were of Peter and Beverly’s little sister whom he called little Willa (played by  McKayla Twiggs). He was so loving and soft with her, it melts your heart.

I also love that Peter was the many of firsts for Beverly, since she was set to die from consumption in just a few months. He loved taking her outside and taking her to her first dance. The softness he showed her was wonderful.

“Set in a mythic New York City and spanning more than a century, “Winter’s Tale” is about miracles, crossed destinies, and the age-old battle between good and evil.  The film marks the directorial debut of Academy Award®-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (“A Beautiful Mind”), and stars Colin Farrell (“Saving Mr. Banks”), Jessica Brown Findlay (TV’s “Downton Abbey”), and Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe (“Gladiator”).

Peter Lake (Farrell) is a master thief, who never expected to have his own heart stolen by the beautiful Beverly Penn (Brown Findlay).  But their love is star-crossed: she burns with a deadly form of consumption, and Peter has been marked for a much more violent death by his one-time mentor, the demonic Pearly Soames (Crowe).  Peter desperately tries to save his one true love, across time, against the forces of darkness, even as Pearly does everything in his power to take him down—winner take all and loser be damned. What Peter needs is a miracle, but only time will tell if he can find one.

The film marks the directorial debut of Academy Award®-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (“A Beautiful Mind”), who also wrote the screenplay, based on the acclaimed novel by Mark Helprin.”
