I’ve tried a few different cloth diapers, and while they were fine, I wasn’t was quite convinced that they were something I wanted to venture into. I loved the One Size Elite Cloth Diaper from FuzziBunz the minute took it out of the package. First of all, the inserts are super soft, but not too thick. That is a big deal to me, because I really hate cloth diapers that are super bulky! Second, the insert is really easy to put in. You simply slip it into a pocket in the diaper…and it stays put. Third, I can loosen or tighten the elastic around the legs to get the perfect fit for my son as he grows (and they send an extra elastic to replace the original one after it gets worn out). The snaps make the diaper quick to put on and take off, and they are strong enough to stay fastened! They come in a lot of different colors that I really love too. I kind of want one in every color….although I don’t think my son would appreciate wearing pink & purple diapers Winking smile .

I was also sent a Trickle Free Trainer and I love it. It doesn’t have an insert, but it does have a a soft minky fabric inside so that it will catch any accidents. The dual side snaps make changing the pant quick and easy. I will be potty-training my son in about 6 months so I will be really glad to have this transition trainer. I am pretty sure I will need a few more though!

I’m a runner. Well, I’m trying to be a runner. My shin splints aren’t helping the process out any, but my Contigo Autoseal Madison Hydration Bottle? That is helping me get the job done! I LOOOOOOVE this water bottle. It is so great for active people- it’s the perfect bottle to bring to the gym. It’s easy to stay hydrated during any activity- there is a button in the back of the lid, which is easy to push with one hand, and then drink. Simple. Anything with a cap you have to twist off does NOT work for running. So I’ve been using straw bottles, and those are ok, but they’re hard to clean and don’t always feel real sanitary. I love eating at Sweet Tomatoes. The food is always fresh and very delicious. My favorite is the salad bar, it is so good I love the variety of toppings and salads that they have. I was super happy to learn that Sweet Tomatoes and Souplantation have Gone Green! Yep, that is super good news! Check it out:

“SAN DIEGO (Sept. 14, 2011)- Garden Fresh Restaurant Corp., parent company to Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes, announced today its sustainability initiatives and Green Restaurant Association certification. Garden Fresh is the largest restaurant chain in the nation to be certified by the Green Restaurant Association, an industry standard in restaurant sustainability.

Garden Fresh has been working toward certification for the past two years and has now completed the process. As part of the sustainability measures taken, Garden Fresh has upgraded to high-efficiency spray valves, energy-efficient lighting, Green Seal-certified cleaning products and recyclable glass, paper, aluminum, and cardboard packaging. Every year, Garden Fresh estimates it will save 2.1 million pounds of waste paper, 7.5 million gallons of water, 4.4 million kilowatts of energy and 3,194 cubic yards of landfill space because of these current changes. The company is a Styrofoam-free restaurant chain and guests at Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes restaurants already use non-disposable dishes and cutlery, diverting waste from landfills and incinerators. As part of this certification, Garden Fresh will provide sustainability educational training to its employees annually.”

With the current changes, the GRA estimates Garden Fresh will save 2.1 million pounds of waste, 7.5 million gallons of water, 4.4 million kilowatts of energy and 3,194 cubic yards of landfill space each year.

“We have always sought innovative ways to be thoughtful about our impact on the environment. I believe that attitude is consistent with our product, the wishes of our guests and our brand,” said Michael Mack, CEO of Garden Fresh Restaurant Corp. “The Green Restaurant Association provided us with a wonderful opportunity to further our efforts and we strongly value their hard work in transitioning the restaurant industry into a more environmentally responsible industry. Not only do we serve greens on our salad bars, but also all of our locations are now officially ‘green’ restaurants. We hope to set a standard among other national and large-chain restaurants to encourage them to follow suit.”

“We are pleased to see a restaurant chain of this volume be the pioneer in ‘green’ initiatives and set a standard in the restaurant industry,” said Jennifer Fleck, communications manager at the Green Restaurant Association. “The U.S. throws out 243 million tons of trash every year, 57 percent of which is buried in landfills. Garden Fresh is taking proactive steps to help reduce this number.”
The Green Restaurant Association, a nonprofit organization that seeks to promote sustainability in the restaurant industry, certified Garden Fresh restaurants as a Two-Star Certified Green Restaurant. Under the certification process, Garden Fresh underwent environmental upgrades in all of its restaurants across the nation. The GRA reviewed the following categories to ensure sustainability requirements were met:

I’ve always known fluoride was bad for kids to swallow. I haven’t even switched my almost 3 year old, because he still hasn’t quite figured out how to spit. But, since reviewing Dr. Sharp’s Natural oral care products that were developed by dentists, I’ve come to learn that fluoride doesn’t need to be added to children, or adult toothpaste. “The problem is that each brushing with fluoridated toothpaste results in the absorption of fluoride (through the mouth and gingival tissue) equal to that of a day’s worth of fluoridated water. When taken systemically, as by swallowing it or from depot injections, most authorities agree that fluoride has no dental benefit…There are good studies that prove that the major difference in so-called “fluoridated” children and “un-fluoridated” children is an increase in dental fluorosis, with no difference in cavity rates.” Very interesting! So, now that we know fluoride-free is the way to go, how do I like the toothpaste in general? I think both flavors tasted great, and I like the simple packaging. My boys also loved their Strawberry Crème flavor, and the adorable monkey on the packaging. I was also able to review their mouthwash, {which also comes in a super chic bottle} which I also thought was even better than the brand I usually use. I love that everything is all natural. MAVEA Inspired Water~ Elemaris XL Water Filter Pitcher Review and Giveaway [CLOSED]

The water in my apartment sort of scares me. I have been afraid for what could possibly be in my water. I was very excited to receive the Elemaris XL Water Filter Picture from MAVEA Inspired Water to review.

The first thing that I noticed was that the pitcher comes in so many fun colors! I was very excited to receive a purple pitcher. I really like how the pitcher looks. It is very fashionable and functional looking.

The pitcher is very easy to use and the instructions were very easy to understand. The filter that goes with the pitcher is easy to install as well. On this particular pitcher, there is an electronic meter that tells you when you need to change your filter. I know that I would not know when to change it so it is great that the pitcher will tell you when to do it!

Another great thing about the MAVEA company is that they are big on recycling. When you are ready to get a new filter, you can send your old one back to them and they will pay for the postage!

We received the ‘Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum in a Dish (dark pink) & Say, Say Oh playmate (dark purple) which happen to be my girls’ favorite colors. They immediately put me to work painting their nails. The first thing I noticed about this non-toxic kid safe nail polish was that it lacked the typical ‘nail polish smell’. Obviously because it doesn’t have all those harsh chemicals to make it smelly! The colors were nice & bold, and I only had to do one coat to make my daughters nails look nice. That surprised me because I figured being water-based, it would look ‘watery’ as well. Not the case though. I love that the bottle has a wide base. If I ever decide to let my 6 year old paint her own nails (which I am not quite sure I will), I feel more confident that this bottle is not going to tip over.

While I have slowly been converting to using more natural, eco-friendly products, it didn’t cross my mind to look for a non-toxic nail polish. My 4 year old has her hands in her mouth all the time (she is my thumb sucker) and the fact that she was sucking on chemical-filled nail polish doesn’t make me feel great. When it comes to kids safety I always make it a top priority and love when I find great safety products for kids. I had never heard of Captain Planet cartoons until now. But my husband remembers watching them as a child. We sat down and watched the episodes together and it was fun to remember how cartoons were in the 1990’s it made us both feel nostalgic. Our 3 year old is really into Super Hero’s so we thought it would be great to introduce him to this Eco-Friendly super hero who can teach him to take care of his planet. Bug immediately took to the show, he loves it and asks to watch it regularly. I do have to mention that there are a few topics discussed on the show that I don’t agree with. I won’t get into the details since I don’t want to spark a political debate I just want to mention it so you as parents can watch each episode and decide how you feel. I have chosen to not show Bug the episode(s) that bother me. Problem solved.

Sleep Studio sent me a Proactive Comfort Pillow and I am loving it! It isn’t too fluffy and it’s not too flat. It’s comfortable and molds perfectly to my head and neck. It is designed to give personalized support to whoever uses it!

I have always preferred to sleep on something that keeps my head aligned with the rest of my body, but that is hard to do with a regular old pillow. With the Proactive Comfort Pillow, I am so comfortable no matter what position I sleep in.
