Jack the Giant Slayer Film Review~ Now In Theaters!

“Jack the Giant Slayer” tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack (Nicholas Hoult) into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend-and gets the chance to become a legend himself.– (C) Warner Bros

Jack the Giant Slayer was a very fun movie to watch.  I was impressed with how they creatively retold the classic fairytale.  There were some things that were the same but there were many things that were different.  It was a nice twist on an old story.

One thing you could tell was that the actors were really having fun with the film.  Nicholas Hoult (who was also in the recent film, Warm Bodies) had the right amount of sweetness to play the peasant Jack.  I really liked Ewan McGregor as Elmont, the captain of the guard.  My favorite though was seeing Stanley Tucci play a goofy villain as Roderick, the king’s advisor.

This movie also had a lot of action.  There is not a lot of ‘down time.’  There was always a battle or action scene of some sort happening.  I never got bored watching this movie.

I would say that movie is not really for young children.  The giants can be pretty scary, not to mention all the action scenes.  Many characters are thrown, eaten, and hurt.  There are some scary moments for kids.  I would say that older children will probably be able to handle the action though.

Overall, my husband and I had a lot of fun watching this movie and we recommend seeing it!

Jack the Giant Slayer gets bragging rights!

Jack the Giant Slayer is rated PG-13 and is now playing in IMAX 3D, RealD3D, and regular 2D theaters.  For more information about the movie, you can go to the movie’s official website.
