Brick Mansions Film Review~ Now Playing In Theaters

Brick Mansions poster

“In a dystopian Detroit, abandoned brick mansions left from better times now house only the most dangerous criminals. Unable to control the crime, the police constructed a colossal containment wall around this area to protect the rest of the city. For undercover cop Damien Collier (Paul Walker) every day is a battle against corruption. For Lino (David Belle), every day is a fight to live an honest life. Their paths never should have crossed, but when drug kingpin, Tremaine (RZA) kidnaps Lino’s girlfriend, Damien reluctantly accepts the help of the fearless ex-convict, and together they must stop a sinister plot to devastate the entire city. With stylized action featuring thrilling Parkour stunts (David Belle is the co-founder of this physical training discipline), Brick Mansions puts an entertaining twist on the action genre.” (c) Relativity

I will be honest.  The only reason I was interested in seeing this movie was to see Paul Walker in it.  I am happy to say that I had fun watching Brick Mansions.

The movie was full of lots of action and some really cool stunt sequences.  The first 10 minutes of the movie were pretty awesome.  This movie introduced me to the new stunt action called Parkour stunts.  The creator of this action style, named isBrick Mansions 2 David Belle, is actually in the film.  I have never seen so many acrobatic stunts.  David Belle was flipping around everywhere!   I would like to see Parkour stunts in more films.  I was pretty impressed.

I loved seeing Paul Walker on the screen.  He had a lot of great action scenes and you could tell that he had fun making the movie.  It is sad to know that such a fun and great action hero is no longer in the world.  He is going to be missed.

This movie is only about 90 minutes long.  The storyline is short and to the point.  I did not feel like the movie ‘dragged’ at all.  It is a quick, fun action movie.

My only complaint about the film is that it did have some bad language.  The characters swore a lot.  With the setting of the movie, I was not surprised by the amount of language though.  Just be aware as a viewer, that there is some bad language in the film.

Although it will not be a movie that I will be watching multiple times, I enjoyed watching Brick Mansions and can recommend it, especially to see one of Paul Walker’s last performances.

Brick Mansions 1

Brick Mansions is now playing in theaters.  It is rated PG-13 for “frenetic gunplay, violence and action throughout, language, sexual menace, and drug material.”  For more information about the movie, you can go to the film’s official website.
