Draft Day Film Review~ Opens Today In Theaters!

Draft Day Poster

“On the day of the NFL Draft, general manager Sonny Weaver (Costner) has the opportunity to save football in Cleveland when he trades for the number one pick. He must quickly decide what he’s willing to sacrifice in pursuit of perfection as the lines between his personal and professional life become blurred on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with dreams of playing in the NFL.” (c) Lionsgate

I think that this year is definitely the comeback year for Kevin Costner.  He has been in a lot of movies lately.  I was very interested in seeing Draft Day.

Overall, I thought Draft Day was a good movie.  I thought that Kevin Costner was great as a general manager of a football team.  For me, he was believable in this role.  I loved his character, Sonny in the film.  His character is very passionate about football and his job.  Although the movie had a pretty predictable ending, I enjoyed the journey getting to the ending.  I think a lot of it was due to Kevin Costner’s performance.

I am not a diehard football fan and really do not really know a lot about the NFL Draft.  I did have fun learning more about football and the NFL Draft during the movie.  Football teams really put a lot of time and energy into their draft picks.

My only complaint about the movie was that I did not feel that Kevin Costner and Jennifer Garner had a lot of romantic chemistry together.  Their characters are supposed to be a couple in the movie but I just did not feel like I could believe they were a couple.  The ‘spark’ was just not there between the two.

I had fun watching Draft Day and I think football fans will really enjoy this movie.

Draft Day is now playing in theaters.  It is rated PG-13 “for brief strong language and sexual references.”  For more information about the movie, you can visit the Draft Day website.
