A funny new twist on a classic love story, WARM BODIES is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human – setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world. Right now, it seems like zombies are the new thing.  About a year ago, I read the book Warm Bodies that this movie was based on.  I thought it was really well written and definitely had some touching and hilarious moments.  My one complaint was how much bad language was in the book (it swears a lot).  I was excited to see the movie though!

I was really surprised how much I loved this movie!  It was absolutely hilarious!  My friend, the audience, and I were laughing a ton during the movie.  Normally, a love story between a zombie and a living person would not work.  It works in this movie because the acting was fantastic.  Nicholas Hoult, who plays R, is the reason why this movie is successful. He plays a zombie just right.  It would have been so easy for him to take this role and make it corny.  Nicholas Hoult knew when to have restraint and when to make the zombie moments hilarious.

This movie is not too gory.   They really hold back with the zombie gore.  If you are looking for gory zombie violence, you really won’t get much from this movie.  You will see zombies eating people and brains though.  This movie is PG-13 though for a reason.  It does have some language (the f-word is said once) and I am pretty sure that watching zombies eat people will scare little kids.  This is a teenager and adult movie.

It is not often that I say this but I actually liked the movie a lot more than its source material.  This is a movie I could easily watch again and buy on bluray when it comes out.  I am thinking I may make my husband go with me to see it again soon!

Warm Bodies gets bragging rights!

Warm Bodies is now playing in theaters.  It is rated PG-13.  For more information, you can go to the official website for Warm Bodies.
