4 year old Bug LOVES Chuck & Friends. He has some of the toy sets and enjoys playing with them. He has the books and has me read them to him often, and now he has a DVD with 10 fun filled episodes! He was jumping for joy when The Adventures of Chuck & Friends: Friends To The Finish DVD arrived at our house. He of course insisted on watching all 10 episodes right then All of the episodes were a big hit with him. His favorite character of course is Chuck the Dump Truck (which makes sense since he is the star and most of his toys are Chuck) I love how he says Chuck the Dump Truck, it is adorable It has been very cute to see him grab his play sets and play with them while watching the show. He also incorporated stories from the episodes into his play time. This is a must have for fans of Chuck & Friends or just fans of dump trucks. Your kids will LOVE this DVD.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island Film Review~ Now in Theaters!

In this follow-up to the 2008 worldwide hit Journey to the Center of the Earth, the new 3D family adventure Journey 2: The Mysterious Island begins when young Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson, reprising his role from the first film) receives a coded distress signal from a mysterious island where no island should exist. It’s a place of strange life forms, mountains of gold, deadly volcanoes, and more than one astonishing secret. Unable to stop him from going, Sean’s new stepfather, Hank (Dwayne Johnson), joins the quest. Together with a helicopter pilot (Luis Guzman) and his beautiful, strong-willed daughter (Vanessa Hudgens), they set out to find the island, rescue its lone inhabitant and escape before seismic shockwaves force the island under the sea and bury its treasures forever.

If your family loves fun, adventure movies this is a movie for you to see! I really enjoyed Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. It is a great movie for the whole family.

There were many things that I liked about this movie. I really liked the cast a lot. I am a big fan of Michael Caine and Dwayne Johnson (to me, he will always be ‘The Rock’). All the actors in the movie really appeared to be having so much fun. I would like to add that as many times as I saw the trailer, the ‘pec dance of love’ still made me laugh!

I really liked how they brought different mythologies into the film. They talk about Atlantis and Captain Nemo as they are on the island. I am a book geek and love this little tie-ins.

I was pretty impressed with the 3D in this movie. I am not a huge fan of 3D film but this one was actual fun. They used the 3D effects in a meaningful way. It was not just ‘throw in’ to make it more marketable.

If you have not seen the first movie, do not worry. There is not much of a connection to the first film. You will not be lost or confused.

For a fun family movie night out, go to Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. It is a fabulous choice!

Brag Worthy Christmas ~ Mark-My-Time Digital Bookmarks & Booklights Review and Giveaway (6 winners) [CLOSED]

Both my girls love books! They love to take a pile of books to bed every night and they will spend a good hour or two reading (or looking at the pictures in the case of my 4 year old). Usually I have to go upstairs and tell them that it’s time to put the books away and actually SLEEP. Now that we have the Mark-My-Time Digital Bookmark & Booklight, I don’t have to worry so much. Now that Q is in first grade, we have started getting more serious about reading. She isn’t required to read for homework, but I want to make sure she is being challenged so I encourage her to read on her own. I am so glad we have these Bookmarks to help out! I set it for 10-15 minutes and it makes it a little more fun for her to read because she has the Mark-My-Time Digital Bookmark keeping track of her time (instead of mom). It’s so helpful! It’s also ideal for timing music practice sessions, timed math fact activities, meetings, homework study sessions, cooking and interval training when exercising. I think it would be great for chores too. My girls usually take their time doing ANYTHING so if I give them a set time to get things done, maybe it would help them a little!

If you have kids in school then you know that they generally have an assigned amount of reading time they need to complete each week. Unless you have lucked out then you probably also know that it can sometimes be hard to get them to do it I was thrilled when I came across Mark My Time. I love that he can easily know how long he has been reading and the booklight even shuts of when his reading time is up. It is a great tool for helping your kids to monitor their reading time.

I have been on the lookout for a set of Animals for my son for one of his Christmas presents. I was excited when the Jumbo Soft Wild Animal Set showed up on my door step. I was super surprised too. I guess I didn’t read the description very well because these animals were quite large! But that is ok because my son will love them even more! They are soft too so my sons little hands will be able to pick them up easily. I am really happy with this animal playset.

I always find it refreshing to shop at stores that don’t carry the same old products that everyone else does. While I do sometimes buy my kids trendy toys that all the other kids have, I also want them to have toys that are unique and create a lot of imaginative play. CP Toys has all that and more! I may have to buy it for my girls who LOVE to create pictures and paper designs!!

I was so excited when I saw the Home Depot Big Builders Workshop. It is the perfect tools and workshop playset for boys. As a little girl I loved playing with my pretend kitchen and had so much fun. This playset is exactly like a kitchen but the boy version. So cool! 4 year old Bug squealed in delight when this big box arrived at our house. He couldn’t wait for his daddy to come home and put it together. I was pleasantly surprised that it was pretty easy for my hubby to assemble and didn’t take very long.

My son has had a blast playing with it since. It has received at least a couple hours a day of play each day. There is so much for him to do. He loves the light which is a simple push on and off. He even went to preschool and bragged that he had a new workshop at his house with ‘real’ tools and all It is a huge hit at our house!

It is made by Step 2 so it is a great quality. We have owned many Step 2 toys and products and they are all made very well and last long enough that they are still in great condition when Bug outgrows them and we are able to pass them on to another child. My boys LOVE the Battle Machines R/C Laser Combat Air vs. Land. They couldn’t wait to start playing with it once it arrived. It has gotten a lot of play time since then. It is great that they can both play and take turns being the remote control helicopter or the gun. It is a great toy with an awesome wow factor. I highly recommend it.

It comes with a Helicopter, Gun Tower, 2 Controllers and an Extra “blade” (small propeller). It does not include the batteries and it requires 11 AA batteries so be sure to have those on hand.

I loved the One Size Elite Cloth Diaper from FuzziBunz the minute took it out of the package. First of all, the inserts are super soft, but not too thick. That is a big deal to me, because I really hate cloth diapers that are super bulky! Second, the insert is really easy to put in. You simply slip it into a pocket in the diaper…and it stays put. Third, I can loosen or tighten the elastic around the legs to get the perfect fit for my son as he grows (and they send an extra elastic to replace the original one after it gets worn out). The snaps make the diaper quick to put on and take off, and they are strong enough to stay fastened! They come in a lot of different colors that I really love too. I kind of want one in every color….although I don’t think my son would appreciate wearing pink & purple diapers Winking smile .

I was also sent a Trickle Free Trainer and I love it. It doesn’t have an insert, but it does have a a soft minky fabric inside so that it will catch any accidents. The dual side snaps make changing the pant quick and easy. I will be potty-training my son in about 6 months so I will be really glad to have this transition trainer. It has an on off switch on one of the sides which is easy for Bug to turn it on and off. I couldn’t believe how fast he could shoot the darts. It is so fun watching him and it is easily his new favorite toy. Another great feature is that the end of the gun can come off so it can be long or shorter. It’s perfect for Bug since he is smaller it makes it easier for him to hold. This toy is recommended for kids ages 6+.

4 year old Bug LOVES Jake and the Never Land Pirates. It is his favorite show on TV right now. There are not a lot of “kid TV shows” that I enjoy watching, but I actually don’t mind sitting down with Bug and watching it. Or listening to it as I cook dinner. The songs are really fun and get stuck in my head. I love the lessons it teaches Bug and he learns a lot from watching it. My favorite thing is how he now says things he picked up from the show like: “Ahoy Mateys” & “I got some Gold Doubloons”. It is a cute show and I love that Bug enjoys it so much. jake1

We were so lucky to be able to view the upcoming holiday episode early! The episode “It’s A Winter Never Land!/Hook On Ice," is scheduled to premiere on Friday, Dec. 2 from 8:30-9 a.m. EST/PST.

It is a great episode so make sure you tune in with your kids or set your DVR to tape it.

The Perfect Way to Organize and Store Your Legos ~ BOX4BLOX Review and Giveaway (2 Winners!) [CLOSED]

I had pretty much given up on the idea of a good Lego storage possibility. Fright Catalog Pirates of the Caribbean 3 Elizabeth Halloween Costume Review

As a teacher, I always dress up for Halloween. Sometimes I have a hard time finding costumes to wear. It seems that most of the costumes you find in stores are not ‘appropriate’ to wear at school. Imagine how difficult it is for me to find a witch costume that I can wear to school. I was very excited to receive a costume from Fright Catalog.

I was so excited looking at costumes on Fright Catalog. There is a whole movie section. Being a movie buff, I went absolutely nuts. When I saw that they have costumes from Pirates of the Caribbean, I got so excited. I finally picked Elizabeth’s costume from Pirates of the Caribbean.

I am so excited to wear my costume. It is very nice, well made, and it looks like to came right out of the movie! I am thrilled to see the faces of my kindergarteners at school when I show up as a pirate!

There are also so many different things you can get on the Fright Catalog website. There are great Kids costumes for Halloween, Halloween masks, and lots of fun Halloween decorations.

Tonka: Chuck & Friends Flip The Bounce Back Racer R/C Vehicle Review and Giveaway [CLOSED]

Bug loves Chuck & Friends. He likes the show and has quite a few chuck & friends toys. So when the Tonka: Chuck & Friends Bounce Back Racer R/C Vehicle arrived at our house you can imagine his excitement!

Batteries are not included so you will want to make sure you have them on hand. Car requires 6 “AA” batteries & the Controller requires 2 “AA” batteries.

Once we got the batteries in it was play time! Bug immediately figured out how to control flip and has been having a blast playing with him since. The coolest thing about this r/c toy is that it flips over. One side is green and one side is blue. Lots of fun. I highly recommend this toy for Christmas and Birthday gifts. Recommended for ages 3 and up.

New Play-Doh Products for Fall! Twirl ‘N Top Pizza Shop, Transformers Play Set, & Metalic & Neon Pack Review and Play Set of Choice Giveaway [CLOSED]

Play-Doh is so much fun! Bug really enjoys playing with it. He spends so much time playing and creating with it. I love seeing how much he enjoys it and love that it helps him develop his creativity.

Bug loves transformers so when you put them together with play-doh it is a winning combination. He immediately fell in love with his new Autobot Workshop. We have a couple of Halloween parties coming up that I can’t wait to attend, but our costumes are not quite ready. Ever since Jake and the Never Land Pirates aired on Disney Junior, my little Bug has been hooked. It quickly became his favorite show. He loves it! So when I heard it was coming out on DVD I couldn’t wait to get it for him. It even includes a music CD, how fun! Now he can watch his Never Land Pirates anytime and dance to his favorite songs, he is very excited about it all. I have to admit I also love this adorable show and the song gets stuck in my head especially the chorus “Jake and the Never Land Pirates…”. Another super fun thing about this DVD set is that it comes with a pirate eye patch as well, I know it is full of great things. Boy did Bug flip out with excitement about this. Yep, he was a pirate for the whole day What a great bonus to a fun DVD! This is a great addition to your child’s DVD collection.

Mechatar Cross Dimensional Robots Review and Giveaway [CLOSED]

C was thrilled when he learned that a Mechatar was on it’s way to our house. Each day the excitement building. So of course when it arrived it had to be played with right then! He received Kodar (perfect since Blue is his favorite color). Right off I was impressed by how he could play with it right out of the box. Once we turned it on it connected automatically to the remote. He had fun playing with his Mechatar Remote Controlled Robot then it was time to connect it to the computer so he could load it with weapons. It easily connects to the computer through a USB port. The first time you connect it, it prompts you to download the software that is needed. Once that is done it took us to Mechatars.com were we created a user account.

He said really liked that there was an tutorial that guided him through the online play, it really helped him a lot. He likes that he can connect with other Mechatars of his friends and can’t wait for his friends to get one (you must know their ID in order to connect).

He has been having so much fun playing with his Mechatar both online and off. When he is online he collects weapons and battles. He said he is getting pretty good at figuring out what weapons to use at certain times. He has spent hours on it so I’m sure he has Offline it is fun to see him play and get missions. The Mechatar talks to him in mission mode and he has a lot of fun playing that. He likes that each mission he completes gets him badges. He can’t wait until his friends get Mechatars and then he can battle them offline robot to robot. Even 4 year old Bug is enjoying the offline fun with the Mechatar.

Mechatars are a great birthday or gift idea for kids ages 6-12!
